Gotta have self care

If you are involved in the healing arts or work in a profession where you help others, it is really important that you take care of yourself. You cannot help anyone until you help yourself!

This is an issue that is near and dear to my heart because everything that I am involved with (and it is a lot!!!) is about helping others and usually helping others who are in a bad situation (i.e., abused/neglected animals). And while I certainly have times where I do not provide enough self-care to myself, as time goes on I realize that if I am not energetically balanced, I cannot help anyone else. Depleting oneself is being a martyr … and that’s not a good thing sweet pea!

ExhaustedNo matter how busy you are (and I’m not immune to 15-hour days, working on one of many projects 7 days a week and then landing face first into my computer), it is important to take a little time for yourself every day … or at least a few times a week. If you do not, you will deplete yourself beyond recognition and it will take 20 times the energy to get yourself back. When you are depleted and energetically out of balance, you cannot maintain a healthy body and mind, you cannot help your children, family and/or companion animals, and if you are in the healing arts like me, you are not helping your clients.

So here are some of my favorite quickie balancing tips for you to try at home or even when you’re on the road:

  • Always have a crystal (or a bag of crystals) on you at all times. When you are feeling depleted or out of balance, any crystal will help bring you into balance. The good ones to carry are Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine. I always carry a little bag of chakra crystals with me. No matter where I’m at, if I can find a place to lie down, I will give myself a mini-chakra balancing treatment. And yes, I have sprawled out in some very interesting locations.
  • If you have essential oils, inhale a deep breath of goodness! Whatever oil you have on hand will help, especially Lavender, Peppermint, Sandalwood and Patchouli. You will always find me with my Young Living Peace & Calming and Grounding oils. I even travel with them!
  • Take a hot bubble bath (even if the weather outside is steamy). When I was traveling last week (in the most magical place of Disney World), I was frizzled after a full day of teaching. I could barely drag my body to dinner. So rather than push myself, I took a bubble bath followed by a crystal chakra treatment. It did the trick!
  • Whether you are a consistent meditator or not, take a few minutes (even just 5) to put yourself in a quiet and peaceful place (indoors or outdoors), close your eyes, and just focus on breathing fully and completely. You can even invite crystals and/or essential oils to participate.
  • Go outdoors and put those pretty little feet on the ground! Many of us live in a concrete jungle and wearing shoes had disconnected us from the healing energy of Mother Earth. Ground yourself and connect to healing energy by walking or sitting directly on the ground.
  • If you are near water, or if you can even find a YouTube video of a waterfall or the crash of ocean waves, spend a little time with the healing sound of water. Or if you have a desktop water fountain, just tune everything out and focus on that for a few minutes.
  • Find some soothing new-agey music and play it! A few of my favorites are HemiSync Gaia, Schumann’s Resonance, and Wayne Dyer’s I Am meditations. After 5 minutes, I am down right Buddah-like!
  • Take a technology break. For one evening (or an entire day or weekend), unplug from the matrix. E-mail, Facebook, Twitter and even television can zap your energy. We are not built to be bombarded with so much information. Give your brain a break and spend the time resting, reading an uplifting book or doing any of the above options.
  • And lastly, get yourself to an energy healing session! If you are attuned to healing energy, give yourself self-treatment. But even better, let someone else give you a treatment. This is a must-do for anyone in the healing arts. A healing session is like getting a spiritual massage. It is an excellent way to rebalance your energy and kick Dr. Depleted out the door!

And remember, give yourself permission to take a vacation or stay-cation once or twice a year. Go to a place that inspires you, or rejuvenate by staying at home and doing things that you never get to do (and no, that does not mean checking off your to-do list).

Everyone is busy … I know because I’m not immune to it. But there is no excuse for us to neglect ourselves. A to-do list is just that … something to do when you have time. So take the time to take care of yourself and everyone around you will benefit. Just give it a try and notice how easily you can work this into your schedule. Getting on your true path

We all know people who have a great life; they love their job, have a loving family, and live life with joy. And we all know people who seem to struggle with every step; they are miserable in their work, in their relationships, and make decisions that are not in their best interest. For some, you are a little of each. But which side do you spend more time in?

In the years that I have been working with healing energy and the Law of Attraction Universal energy, I know that consciously living with the “energy” has put me on a path that feels genuine and true. It may have been a bumpy path, but I know that I needed to go through some challenges to get here. At times, I was divinely guided to take steps that now make sense. I also see the same thing with others who have received energy healing sessions, took energy healing classes, and/or learned about the Law of Attraction. I see their life now being divinely guided down their true path and it’s beautiful to watch.

When you open yourself to healing and universal energies, those energies begin to subtly shift your world towards your true soul path. If you are far off of your true path, the shift could feel like negative situations (such as losing a job, losing a relationship/marriage, losing money, losing your health, having a spiritual crisis, or just feeling uncomfortable in your life). At the time, you may feel like you’ve done something bad that brought on the loss of things in your life. It’s actually the  contrary; they may be things that served you well in the past but are no longer in your truest best interest.

If you are only slightly off of your true path, the subtle shifts may go unnoticed until one day you look back to a year, two years, five years ago and see that you are physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually in a different place. You look back with a smile and wonder how did I get here? The answer: the energy moved you.

Most people are terrified of change. I used to be one of those people. Now, I embrace change and enjoy looking back over the years to see the amazing gifts that I have in my life. I can absolutely attribute all of the change (the bumpy parts and the blessings) to my work with healing and Universal energies.

I was recently reflecting on some Reiki teachings and shared with someone that when you welcome the healing energy of Reiki into your life (either through energy healing sessions or being attuned to Reiki energy), the energy will move through you to help redirect you onto your true path. When I first heard that teaching, I was terrified that I would lose some things that were comfortable in my life. I did lose some things, but in looking back those were things that were not beneficial for me living my best life. They were holding me back. And what I saw was that when something leaves, something else must appear.

If you feel uncomfortable in any part of your life, welcoming healing and Universal energies in your life will help to make those subtle shifts to get you on your path. If you can trust in the process and know that change will be in your best interest, then you can relax and enjoy the journey. And after all, isn’t that what life is supposed to be?

What’s your Vibe?

Thoughts become things

When “The Secret” movie and book came out in 2005, it brought the Law of Attraction to mainstream society. But did you know that the Law of Attraction, like other Universal Laws, has been around since the beginning of time. Whether you believe it or not, whether you consciously and deliberately work the Law of Attraction or are unaware of its workings, it is present in your life every moment. How do you know it’s working … just look around your life and what you see is what you have attracted. Ouch …. That can be a bitter pill to swallow!!!!

The Law of Attraction tells us that like attracts like. The Law of Attraction is documented in numerous religious and historical documents, including from pioneers and leaders who understood that your energy vibration (your vibe) emits from you out into the world, matches up to vibrationally similar people/situations/events/things, and draws those back to you. So if you have a grateful, positive, upbeat outlook on life, you will vibrationally match to similar things and draw more of those good things to you. On the other hand, if you look at life negatively, through suspicious lenses and have toxic thoughts about yourself and others, then you will match up to other negative/suspicious/toxic things and can draw those in. So whether you are positive or toxic, you will surround yourself with a lifestyle that validates what you think, feel and believe. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I know people who live a blessed life because they deliberately work the Law of Attraction in their lives everyday (whether they know they are doing it or not); I also know people who do not believe in it and think it’s a bunch of hooey. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and they have their own path in life. I’m obviously a believer (after all, I’m a Certified Law of Attraction Counselor) and have seen how I have drawn blessed things into my life, as well as things that I really didn’t want. Just like the Law of Gravity works in our lives even though we may not understand it, I know that the Law of Attraction equally works whether we understand it or not.

So, if you have read or watched “The Secret”, or studied the Law of Attraction, have given the process a try, but have not received what you wanted to manifest, don’t give up! There is a specific process for mastering the Law of Attraction and that, once learned, will become a natural part of your life and you will manifest your desires (some quickly and some over time). Have a gratitude shift!

Crystal gratitude 1What does gratitude mean to you? Do you ever ponder what you are grateful for, or do your days pass by without giving it a thought? For most people, life is so hectic, filled with to-do lists, taking care of others, and getting from one place to another, that they do not take a moment to revel in gratitude.

Gratitude is one key step to consciously working the Law of Attraction into your life. When you can list what you are grateful for, even just 5 things, you shift your vibration and your energy to a positive level. That shift can bring about positive changes and help you draw things into your life that you desire.

Consciously working gratitude throughout your day is essential to living a harmonic life. When you are stressed, struggling to meet a deadline, encountering difficult people, working a job that you dislike, sitting in traffic, or bombarded by the chaos in life, that is precisely when you should shift your gratitude.

For even just one minute, sit wherever you are in silence (turn off the radio, TV, computer and any distractions), close your eyes if you can (unless you are driving!), and mentally reflect on what you are grateful for. Even if you feel like your life is falling apart, there are always things that you can be grateful for.

Be grateful for knowing that you need to shift your gratitude; be grateful for the breaths you are taking for that means that you are still alive and able to take control of your life; be grateful for anyone in your life that is supportive and loving (especially pets); be grateful for the sunshine, a fresh breeze, birds that sing to you in the morning, and that frisky squirrel that is determined to get into your backyard bird feeder.

If you take the time to reflect, you will surprise yourself at how much you have to be grateful for, regardless of what realities may plague your life. Whenever you feel on the brink of a stressed-induced breakdown, shift your gratitude and notice how you can immediately shift your energy to a positive path. Because once you can step onto a positive path, your are one step closer to manifesting what your heart desires.

So today, take at least one gratitude time out. And do the same tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day …

It’s Hump Year!

Can you believe that yesterday was the half way point of 2013? It just seems like a few weeks ago we were talking about setting our 2013 intentions. So this got me thinking … how are you doing with your 2013 intentions? We all set them, whether we write down them formally or just place them in a folder in our brain.

I like to use the word intention rather than resolution because society has labeled resolutions in a negative manner. Intention, on the other hand, is a personal goal and wish that you send out to the Universe which carries more positive energy. And with the Law of Attraction working in your life every day, an intention is what you launch to get what you truly want. You have to tell the Universe what you want, clearly, in order for it to manifest.

So getting back to your 2013 intentions … did you create any? If you did, how are you doing on achieving those? Mid-year (or hump year as I like to call it … giggle) is a great time to assess what you’ve achieved and identify what you still have time to accomplish.

To help you, I created a fun little chart that you can download for free on my website. How do you get it? If you have already signed up on my website to be an Energy Emissary, you already have your login for free access to the Members-Only page full of free goodies.

If you have not signed up, it’s easy peasy. Just go to the home page and look to the top of the right column. You will see the sign up form there. You will then be directed to the Members-Only page that is full of posters, articles and an hour-long video on the Law of Attraction. Remember to bookmark that page and/or write down your login and password. And I will never ever share your email with anyone!

Then take 30 minutes, or as much time as you need, to jot down the intentions that you set in January and then do a 360 degree full circle assessment of where you are in manifesting each intention. If you have not achieved most of your intentions, I hope that you will pat yourself on the back for what you have manifested and know I can totally manifest these intentions!!! But you may also see that you have slowly and subtly manifested more than you think you have, which should empower you to keep on the path!
