When learning stops you in your track

Light reading booksI am a learner. If I am not learning everyday, life is boring and then I waste away watching the Hallmark Channel and The Bachelor. I get excited when I learn something new and everyday I find myself proclaiming out loud “I learned something new today”! I strongly believe that if we are not learning we are not growing; if we are not growing we are stagnant; if we are stagnant we are dying.

I’ve heard at many conferences that “learners are earners” and I really believe that’s true. Successful people learn everyday, without exception, even when on vacation or taking a time out. When we are excited to learn, that excitement vibe attracts in others of a similar vibe, especially if it relates to our business, and that’s where the magic happens.

I typically have 5 or more books stacked up to read (sometimes I’m reading a few at the same time); books to help me be better and to help my business be better. I can’t remember the last time I was NOT in some training program. I also learn when I teach others, which is why I have sometime to teach about every week!

But here’s the thing that I’ve noticed … it is easy to be a perpetual student, to intake as much knowledge as you can on a particular topic, but then use the I’m busy learning excuse to not take action. Here’s a helpful hint: you will/should never stop learning!

Learning without action is just filling your brain, spending your money, and what does that really get you? There’s no improvement in that.

When we learn something, we must implement that knowledge. When we implement, we may love what that knowledge does (helps us grow our business, helps us to find a new interest, helps us to be better in work/relationships/health/money), or we may find out that it was not a right fit and we can try another technique or tweak it to work for us. But if we fail to implement, we may keep learning more about the same topic and not realize that it’s not the right fit. Then we’re just energetically stuck and we wonder why our life stays the same.

When we fail to implement what we’ve learned, we stay in the same place we were before. Energetically we send out the message that we want to keep learning … learning … learning … learning, so we keep finding learning opportunities. We learn ourselves into infinity but have nothing to show for it.

So why do we do that? I have dwelled on this and here’s my thoughts:

  • We fail to implement because we are afraid of trying and failing.
  • We fail to implement because the knowledge may be overwhelming and we don’t know how to break it down into steps to implement.
  • We fail to implement because it could take us out of our comfort zone and put us in a new unfamiliar energy.
  • We fail to implement to avoid addressing and resolving a stress or situation in our life.

MotivationSo how do we find that sweet spot between daily learning and getting that learning into practice? Here’s what I do (and it is a work in progress everyday to make sure that I don’t fall into the perpetual learner mode):

    • As you are reading a book or in a training program, start making a list of small easy steps that you can immediately implement. Don’t wait until the end to start; start with a small step the next day, and then the next day, and so on. If you wait until the end, your list looks overwhelming and it is easy to stuff the list in a drawer and forget about it.
    • If you self-identify as a perpetual learner who does not implement, make a mindful decision that you will not move on to the next book/class/webinar/training/program until you implement at least one technique from what you just learned. This gets the ball rolling.
    • Put your tasks in your calendar and treat it like it’s an appointment with your boss.
    • Post written affirmations everywhere so that you see them throughout the day. Good ones could be: “Today I complete one task from (list book/class/program) and I’m excited to do it.”
    • If you really want to tough-love yourself (I do this often), deny yourself a daily activity until you complete your task. For example, no lunch/no Facebook/no TV until you complete one step. It may be tough love, but it works!

Carnelian Pyrite

  • Tools to help you motivate and take those small steps, these work for me:
    • Motivation oil, Citrus oils (like Lemon, Orange, Tangerine, Lime)
    • Crystals: Carnelian, Pyrite, Red Jasper, Tiger’s Eye (good root and sacral chakra get-your-keester-moving stones)

If you identify as a learner and not an implementer, you have already taken a huge step forward in your energy. And that’s the energy that we want … forward moving. Remember, take one baby step to implement what you’ve learned, and do it again the next day, and the next and so on. Do not stop and just keep moving forward. But above all, keep learning!

Allie’s Favorite Things for 2016

Favorite Things 2016

Each December on my Facebook page, I post a daily item of one of my favorite things. It could be a book, training program, crystal, essential oil. It’s something that I have worked with that has risen to the top of my Favorite Things! Enjoy this list of my Favorite Things for 2016!

Thieves detergentAllie’s Favorite Thing #1: Thieves laundry soap and dish soap! Young Living launched these two products at the Grand Convention in August. I was struggling to find an all-natural non-toxic dish soap and laundry detergent that did not contain sodium lauryl sulfate. These two products work great and have the power of the Thieves blend to truly clean your clothes and dishes (and everything smells great)! As we approach 2016, it’s time to ditch the toxins and do all that we can to have non-toxic homes and these two products are a great start! (P.S. Be sure to enter #1414338 when checking out in the sponsor/enroller category. You can order retail or become a wholesale member.)

Allie’s Favorite Thing #2: Start with Why is a book for anyone who is struggling with their work, a project, or how they are living their life. It helps you to reverse the traditional way of thinking that is “start with what, then how, then why” and instead start with the why. Once you know why you are doing something, you have the energy and stamina, even through difficult times, to keep going. This book changed the way I work!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #3: The Lucky Bitch Money Bootcamp is for anyone who wants to earn more income doing what they love. This is a self-guided e-course that is chock full of practical, simple tactics to take your career and finances from owe to wow. If you have any energy money blocks (and we all do), you’ll learn how to identify and remove them. It’s really awesome and this program works …. I know because I went through it earlier this year.

AromaDomeAllie’s Favorite Thing #4: The Aroma Dome. When I layed in the Aroma Dome at the Young Living Grand Convention this year, I was transformed. I immediately purchased it and even offer Aroma Dome healing sessions! Everyone who climbs in it begs to stay just a bit longer because it is so relaxing. The Aroma Dome is a tent that you zip yourself in (don’t worry, the top of the tent is high up so that you don’t feel claustrophobic) while you diffuse your favorite oil into the tent. This is a great way to use oil blends to transform belief systems, infuse yourself with physical wellness (especially during winter), or to relax. (P.S. Be sure to enter #1414338 when checking out in the sponsor/enroller category. You can order retail or become a wholesale member.)

41mEEr0uXvL._SX333_BO1,204,203,200_Allie’s Favorite Thing #5: The Big Leap is another favorite book if you are contemplating a change in your career, relationship, where you live, or anything that is causing a bit of fear. Life is meant to be full of leaps and some are bigger than others. This books gives guidance and reassurance that when you listen to your inner voice, IT IS NEVER WRONG! This is a must read for 2016!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #6: The Fairy Tarot cards were by my favorite cards for 2015 and will be going into 2016. I love the fairy realm and the gentle guidance we can receive. These cards are so incredibly beautiful to look at and this is known as the “self esteem” deck. Whether you read the booklet or simply let the beauty of the cards and fairies speak to you, you will receive clear guidance for fulfilling your life purpose.

Fairy houseAllie’s Favorite Thing #7: Fairy gardens are a fun and beautiful way to frolic and connect with nature and the fairies that protect nature. Fairy gardens bring out your inner child and imagination and so fun to create. Whether you build little fairy houses, buy trinkets, string fairy lights, or plant botanicals and crystals, you will love to sit with your fairy garden. It is my favorite place to meditate.

Allie’s Favorite Thing #8: Christmas Spirit is a blend of Cinnamon, Orange and Spruce. It is what I diffuse, pretty much non-stop, from Halloween through the end of January. It is a beautiful and uplifting blend that makes your home (or office or car) smell like the holidays. I am never without this oil blend. (P.S. Be sure to enter #1414338 when checking out in the sponsor/enroller category. You can order retail or become a wholesale member.)

Allie’s Favorite Thing #9: If you haven’t worked with Leonie Dawson’s workbooks, then this will be a real treat! I’ve worked with these for 4 years and they get better each year. There is a calendar/workbook for business and one for your life! You debrief the previous year and get really specific about achieving your goals in 2016. This is a must have if you’re serious about 2016 being your best year yet!

Peppermint Cocoa lip balmAllie’s Favorite Thing #10: Make your own lip balm! I’m having a blast making my own organic lip balm. Once you purchase the base ingredients, they are so inexpensive to make … and fun! I’ve included a recipe card and you can purchase lip balm tubes or tins from Amazon. If you’re using the tubes, take old egg cartons, cut out small holes in the bottom, and the tubes will fit in and stand up when you pour in the balm mixture!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #11: While taking the Lucky Bitch Money Bootcamp (which was Favorite Thing #3), I found the Get Rich Lucky Bitch book by Denise Duffield-Thomas and I love love love it! Everyone has money blocks and this book has practical fun tips that you can take to start moving those blocks away so that you can manifest the financial abundance you desire. I read a lot of books each year and this one is at the top of my favorite list.

Allie’s Favorite Thing #12: Mini travel diffuser! I spend a lot of time traveling for work and this is a must-have to keep yourself well. I plug it in when I get to a hotel room and let it infuse the room with good smelling wellness. But it’s also excellent to take to your office or any other location where you want to enjoy the benefits of essential oils!

51KKbpnWOKL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_Allie’s Favorite Thing #13: Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Cards are designed to help you manifest your goals, life purpose and dreams. I love the imagery on these cards and they are so much fun to work with. But most importantly, they are freakishly accurate! If you’ve never worked with oracle cards, just shuffle the cards as you think of your question. Then draw 1, 2, 3 or more cards.

Allie’s Favorite Thing #14: Angel Tuners! I discovered these when I was visiting Sedona (most magical place) in October. I love healing sound, but these are truly out of this world. The 3 tuning forks have the vibrational frequency of 4096 Hz, 4160 Hz and 4225 Hz!!! They were created to help raise our vibration so that we can better hear angelic guidance. Just clang the tuning fork and wave it through your energy field and you will feel lighter and more connected. It’s awesome!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #15: Marie Forleo’s B-School is for anyone who will do the work to launch their passion business. This is an intensive online school for anyone who is serious about growing their business and truly being their own boss. It is practical, eye-opening and Marie’s personality is funny at times. I invested in my business and myself earlier in the year and went through B-School. It was one of the best investments I’ve made. B-School only comes around once a year, so get on Marie’s email list for the launch in March 2016! Message me if you have questions.

Allie’s Favorite Thing #16: Nail polish rack for your essential oils! When you become an oil hoarder like I have, you want them at your fingertips and displayed beautifully. This nail polish rack does it!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #17: Don’t Let Anything Dull Your Sparkle! This is Doreen Virtue’s latest book and it’s unlike any of her other books. It addresses how people are addicted to drama, how stress and even certain types of foods create a histamine-response in our body that draws us to drama and creates a vicious cycle. Very eye-opening!

Peppermint Vanilla Sugar ScrubAllie’s Favorite Thing #18: Make your own sugar scrub! This year I have really gone towards non-toxic all-natural products and that includes all bath and body products! We are surrounded by toxins all day long so it’s no wonder that so many people are getting sick. You can totally do something about that and start making your own products! It’s really easy, you know exactly what the ingredients are and you will save a lot of money. Here is my favorite recipes for sugar scrubs!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #19: Passion planner. This is a 2nd calendar planner that I have been working with the past few months and I really love it. It’s contained in one small book, you can list out your hourly/daily tasks, your goals, wishes, and set milestones you want to reach. I have been testing out different planners because I spend a lot of time with goal setting and my days are always packed with meetings, etc. This is a great planner that brings everything together in one planner!

Copaiba1Allie’s Favorite Thing #20: Favorite oils for cats! Young Living Frankincense and Copaiba! These two oils will be your cat’s best friends. I like to combine them together in a bottle (I clean out and use my empty essential oil bottles), add in a carrier oil (a 8-10 drop ratio of carrier oil to 1 drop of essential oil) and then I apply a small amount down the back of my cats. These are two powerful wellness oils that work at the cellular level! (P.S. Most oils are not safe for pets, so be sure to use Young Living!)

Screen Shot 2016-01-05 at 7.59.27 AMAllie’s Favorite Thing #21: Ionic Foot bath. I’ll admit, it’s gross but it’s amazing at the same time. You put your feet in warm water, the ionic instrument is placed in the water, and through the exchange of positive and negative ions, you detox especially heavy metals, yeast and other yuckies! But biggest benefit is that you also alkalize your body. Read the article below on why that’s important. My motto … better out than in! I have an ionic foot bath about every 3 weeks. If you’re in the Lansing, MI area and want to join me one day, just message me! We can be grossed out and in awe together!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #22: Archangel Gabriel oracle cards! This deck just came out this month! Gabriel is the messenger angel and supports those who bring messages to the world (such as writers, teachers, artists, etc.). So if you’re looking for guidance going into 2016, this is an awesome deck!

Stellar BeamsAllie’s Favorite Thing #23: Need a last minute gift that is really unique? I have unusual crystals for sale!!! Lemurians, Moldavite, Vesuvianite, Stellar Beam Calcite and more! I love to select unusual, rate and high vibrational crystals for other people. Check out the collection that I have for purchase!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #24: Infused 7. Young Living and the Oola guys have created one of my favorite oil collections that combines the power of Young Living essential oils with the simple and life-changing principles of Oola. Oola is a state of awesomeness. It’s living a life that is balanced and growing in the seven key areas of health and well-being: Faith, Family, Field (work), Finance, Fitness, Friends and Fun. It’s unlocking the potential for greatness that lies within each of us. It’s finding true purpose and meaning for your life. I love love love this kit and have worked with it extensively as I took my leap of faith in moving back home to Michigan earlier in the year and transforming my career. It is powerful! (P.S. Be sure to enter #1414338 when checking out in the sponsor/enroller category. You can order retail or become a wholesale member.)

Allie’s Favorite Thing #25: Living where you want, doing what you want! This has been an amazing year of change for me … and all for the better. I am back home in Michigan living where I want and doing the work that I love (which is still an interesting combo of animal protection legal work and healing work). This Christmas Day I hope that you surrounded by those who you love and can find joy as we wind down 2015. If you’re not where you want to be or doing what you want to do, you can make it happen in 2016. Check out my new online course Be a Healing-Preneur (recorded version will be ready by mid-January) that will help you turn your hobby into your passion biz!

Screen Shot 2015-11-29 at 3.41.32 PMAllie’s Favorite Thing #26: Make your own body butter. Can I be blunt? It’s time that we stop bringing toxins into our home and putting them on and in our body. Look at the ingredients in your bath and body products. If you cannot pronounce an ingredient, then you shouldn’t be using it. Why not make your own luscious body butter using just a few natural ingredients! Check out this awesome body butter recipe that will make your dry winter skin say Aaaaahhhh!!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #27: Wellness pendants. These pendants will make you feel great! The Grounding pendant gives you more energy and alertness (it really does) and the Flow pendant you wear at night and you will have better dream recall!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #28: Pure Protein Complete. I am not a protein powder kinda girl, but I love love love this protein powder! Pure Protein Complete is a comprehensive protein supplement that combines a proprietary 5-Protein Blend, amino acids, and ancient peat and apple extract to deliver 25 grams of protein per serving. It supports ATP production and energizes the body. The chocolate version is so yummy and it is excellent in the morning or when you need an energy boost. (P.S. Be sure to enter #1414338 when checking out in the sponsor/enroller category. You can order retail or become a wholesale member.)

Allie’s Favorite Thing #29: Peel n Stick Chalk sheets! This is one organizational tool that I cannot live without! I have these posted on the wall in my home office and every Sunday I use my chalk markers and write out my week! Sometimes I forget to look at my computer calendar, my phone calendar, my Passion Planner/Leonie planner (as you can tell, I have a lot of calendars and planners). This is the one way that I know I won’t miss an appointment! It’s right in my face, it’s fun and crafty. And when the day is done, I just take a wet paper towel and it erases right off! I love it!!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #30: The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. I listed to this audio book when I was on a long drive from Michigan to Virginia and back. It is packed full of practical and awesome guidance on how we can continue to grow in our lives and businesses. I’m always engaging in personal development and this is one book that is worth getting as we get ready to welcome in 2016!

Allie’s Favorite Thing #31: Angel Answers oracle cards. Sometimes we just need a blunt answer, right? I love these cards because they are blunt and give you quick answers. You don’t have to be trained in how to work with oracle cards. Just get a deck, shuffle it while thinking of your question and then you will instinctively pick the right card. I love this deck!!!

I wish you a year ahead filled with abundance, joy and love!

Widen your perspective, receive more

Create a visionI was driving home after a beautiful walk along the river on my favorite campus (Michigan State) when I was scanning my SiriusXM radio and stopped on a channel. It was a talk about widening our containers, our perspective, so that we can receive more.

This message really struck a cord with me because all year (and for the past few years) I’ve been widening my perspective and experiencing the growing pains and joys that come with it. Widening your container or perspective is about looking at where you are in all aspects of your life (personal, spiritual, finance, work, health, etc.) and then reaching further to make it even better. It’s proactive rather than reactive. So if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, do one thing today to improve your physical wellbeing and keep doing it. If you’re fed up with your boss/job, then take a step towards finding and doing your passion career and do it everyday. If you’re financially or spiritually broke, make a decision to learn what you need to do to become financially or spiritually abundant and keep doing it. Widening the container is not a one time event, it’s a process. The process is called life. Yet I find that most people (and I’ve been there at times) are satisfied with being dissatisfied. And that’s not right.

But here’s the glitch about that container: When we ask for more in our lives but don’t have the space to accommodate more, we end up pushing away the exact thing that we want. What???? We don’t do this intentionally; it’s a subconscious reaction built on a belief system that we’re not entitled to more than what we have. Everyday we push our desires and dreams away because we often go through life thinking small, not believing that we deserve more than what we have, and being taught to be grateful for what we have (and hence, don’t ask for more). Who came up with those crappy rules? Your life and what’s in it is exactly as big as your container and what you can fit in it. Small perspective creates a small container and a small life. A big container is filled with an expansive perspective of all that is possible and creates a big glorious life.

But in order to bring in something new, we may need to make space for it. So that usually means that something has to go. Most people don’t want to give up anything even if it’s something toxic; they just want to keep adding in more stuff in hopes of covering it up. I call this Toxic Hoarding. To make space, we need to eliminate what isn’t working for us anymore so that we can add what we really want.

You don’t have to give up anything huge or life altering. It could simply be that you spend less time on Facebook (which has been such a depressing energy drain for me lately), less time gossiping, less time watching reality TV, less time with energy draining people, friends and activities. It’s about learning to say no, staying focused on what you want in your life and avoiding a life that is on auto pilot with mind-numbing activities! Or maybe you need a life altering change so you start to reduce the number of hours working for a toxic job, you leave the toxic job knowing that when a space is created it must be filled, you walk away from a relationship that no longer serves you, or you start to do something for yourself everyday that promotes well-being, purpose and abundance in your life.

So what does your container look like? Is it big enough to hold all of your dreams and goals. If it is, you’re not dreaming big enough. If it’s not, start to clean out your container and start to stretch your dreams and goals beyond your comfort zone. You know that I’m all about tools to help with changing belief systems and supporting change. So here are my top 5 picks:

Infused-7-graphic
Sexy
  • The Infused 7 essential oil kit by Oola and Young Living. This kit is all about balancing and growing 7 areas of your life: Faith, Family, Field/work, Finance, Fitness, Friends and Fun. I have been working extensively with this kit and I love love love it. (P.S. Be sure to get the Oola Balance and Oola Grow bottles, too, because they combine great with this kit.)
  • For crystals, get some Azurite with Malachite (place on your 3rd eye to work on core beliefs) or an Elestial crystal (strips away anything that is not in line with your crown chakra).
  • Tapping (the Emotional Freedom Technique).
  • Meditation or time to quiet your mind every day.
  • Build a vision board and go big on those dreams!

Please don’t live a small life. You were placed on this planet at this time in history to bring something that is unique to you. If you don’t bring it, you will deprive everyone of your gift.

Where’s my blanket fort? Handling overwhelm with grace

When I say blanket fort, what do you think of? I think back to the days of my childhood where I spent hours erecting the perfect blanket fort, with chairs lined up perfectly to hold the appropriately matching colored blankets, and the tranquil interior filled with blankets, fluffy pillows, my Nancy Drew books, Etch-a-Sketch, graham crackers, the family cat and everyone with cooties was banned.

Doesn’t that sound lovely … especially during times of feeling overwhelmed??

I often get myself into situations where I feel overwhelmed. It’s totally my doing because I tend to take on way too much (all for the greater good of helping people and pets as I rationalize my 12+ hour work days, often 7 days a week). So here’s what I’ve done lately that made me want to retreat to my childhood fort:

  • I made a huge life move from 11 years in Virginia back home to Michigan (with all of the stress of buying a house, selling a house, packing, moving, getting unpacked and set up, while keeping the kitties calm);
  • Two days after the move I felt strongly that I needed to sign up for Marie Forleo’s intensive B-School before registration closed, so I dove in to her 8-week course (which I am loving, but the timing was a bit overwhelming);
  • Three weeks after the move I signed up for a 6-week Chemistry of Essential Oils class (which I also love);
  • I’ve attended two in-person essential oil trainings (with more on the horizon) which were amazing;
  • I’ve held 5 workshops and webinars;
  • I’ve maintained my animal protection, including travel, work while balancing the set up of Manifested Harmony;
  • I have several new classes that I really want to develop;
  • I’m enjoying reconnecting with my Michigan tribe and getting back into ballroom dancing;
  • And the list goes on and on.

While there is some work that I’m not entirely enamored with these days, everything else I absolutely adore and love which is why I keep piling it on! I am ravenous when it comes to learning and sharing what I’ve learned. But two weeks ago, I hit the blanket fort wall. I looked at my chalk wall board in my office and thought holy crap, how am I going to get through all of this?

Have you been there? I think you have. And what is our natural instinct? We start to shut down and our productivity comes to a grinding halt which makes us feel even worse. And then when we’re not checking off our to-do list because we’re overwhelmed, we then feel even more overwhelmed. Right? #viciouscycle

So what did I do? I crafted my adult version of the blanket fort which contains sparkly fairy lights, my survival kit of Young Living Essential Oils (high frequency oils like Neroli, Rose, Sacred Mountain, Stress Away), crystals (my favorite Brandberg, some Prehnite, and lots of grounding crystals like Black Tourmaline), an inspiring book, my 3 cats weaving in and out, and wine (I put oils in the wine, so that makes it healthy, right?)! And when I come out for a small break, I only watch The Hallmark Channel and The Love Boat which I recently found on Pop TV! Squuuuueeee!!!!!! Why those shows? They are all heart-felt shows/movies that leave you feeling good. I’ve also taken to building fairy houses (check out my creation below)! Taking some ME time – to do nothing that will save the world – is just what I need to re-energize.

Fairy houseHere’s the thing about getting overwhelmed: acknowledge it, let yourself have some downtime, do things that bring you joy, but don’t wallow too long otherwise it’s difficult to crawl back into productivity. Then just add one thing to your list for the day and overhwleovermake sure you get that done. Then the next day, add one more task. By the end of the week you’ve checked off 7 tasks and 30 by the end of the month! And most of all, give yourself permission to be gentle on yourself. Being gentle does not mean being lazy and shirking responsibilities; it means giving yourself time each day to just do something nurturing and kind for yourself.

Let’s chat about this … post me a comment of the 3 things that you do to help you cope with overwhelm and we can all learn better ways to take care of ourselves!

Open that throat chakra and speak your truth

Speak the truthHow many times have you stopped short of saying what you really want to say? Maybe you read something interesting or even controversial and you want to tell others. Maybe you have studied something (like energy healing, Law of Attraction, essential oils) and want to share what you learned. Maybe you see an animal who needs help. Maybe you have a belief or testimonial about how something has worked for you. But then you stopped short and did not share, did not speak. The #1 culprit for why we lock up our throat chakra and don’t speak our truth is because we want to be liked/loved/accepted and we’re afraid that speaking up with cause friction, controversy, an argument, or being told no. Is this ringing true for you?

Yesterday, I posted something on my Facebook page written by someone else about why she thinks Young Living is the best essential oil company out there. The article resonated with me so I wanted to give her some support. The author is a chemist and wrote from a scientific perspective (which the geek in me loves). I reposted it on my Facebook page with added commentary about how I tossed out over 30 bottles of oils from other companies because if you cannot ingest the oil, apply it directly to your skin, or use it with animals, then why in the #&$$ would you inhale it (directly or diffusing) which goes directly to your brain and into your blood stream? (This is the sort of cool stuff I’m learning in a Chemistry for Essential Oils class, taught by a chemist, and taking a lot of workshops with medical doctors). A couple of people took issue with the post.

I’m an attorney who has spent the legal-side of her entire career either in front a jury prosecuting criminals or in front of classes teaching (and sometimes to difficult audiences). I have no problem speaking my truth, sharing what I know and believe, and I intentionally tackle the topics that others shy away from. But I see so many people swallowing their words (both in person and online) because they don’t want a problem.

I am blessed in that I’ve not had any negative feedback on social media until that post yesterday. And you know what? I responded back to the posters. I wanted to acknowledge them for speaking their truth (even though it differs from what I know), to share what I know, and let them know that it’s ok to agree to disagree.

So here’s what I want to share with you so that you will begin to share and speak your truth:

  • You are entitled to your opinion. Period. No one lives in your brain, has your experiences or education other than you. Own it, don’t hide it. If you hide it, your throat chakra will get all yucky and clogged (imagine your sink drain full of hair and crap) and then you’ll have to work long and hard with someone like me to open it up (which, for those who I work with, it often involves a really loud screaming rant outdoors when no one is around).
  • If someone does not like what you’re saying, they have the free will to walk away. That does not mean that they disapprove of you; they just have a different opinion. Now if they walk away and disapprove of you, good riddance sweet pea, right? And remember that you have the right to walk away too. Own your space.
  • If someone disagrees with you, go ahead and have a healthy and respectful discussion. I’m an attorney and I do not debate anyone. I give them my opinion (usually backed up with evidence) and they give me their opinion and then it’s done. It’s ok to end it with “it’s ok if we disagree.” With 7 billion people on this glorious planet, we’re not all going to agree. Discuss and move on, but don’t let it stop you from discussing it in the future with others.
  • If someone tries to bully you into their opinion, stop, turn around and walk away. No one has the right to bully you, and likewise you should not bully someone with your opinion. Intellectual bullies in particular drive me bananas because they get mean in pursuing their point which overwhelming has no truth or support to it (hence, why they are a bully).
  • Now a word about opinions online: If you post something online and it results in an onslaught of negative posts, here’s what I recommend:
    • Read what each person says (even if inside you’re thinking I’m not going to agree with them). Read it because you may learn something new, you may be able to give an alternate explanation to them, and then acknowledge to them that you read it. Most people simply want to be heard and acknowledging can significantly reduce tension.
    • If the person continues to rant, bad mouth or get hostile, remember that you own that page (whether it’s a personal or professional social media page, website, newsletter, etc.). You wouldn’t let someone come into your home and do that to you, right? Your online space is your online home. So if someone continues and wants to debate (see prior recommendation on no debates), then consider removing them from your page. I have no problem banning and deleting but I use that as a final you-went-too-far-in-my-online-home-and-now-I’m-getting-a-restraining-order tactic.

CelestiteNow what do you do if you’ve been swallowing your truth? Here’s a few simple things that you can do at home and have fun too:

  • Go outside and scream what you really want to say! This works best when no one else is around (no need for the neighbor to call 911 on you). This gets the throat chakra blasted open. If you’re a runner or can go to the woods or water, go for it and scream!!
  • Then you’ll want to infuse the throat chakra with some gentler energy. Try these:
    • Crystals: Angelite, Blue lace agate, Celestite are my favorites for having an open throat chakra but speaking your truth compassionately and not like a bull dozer. Just lay down and place the crystal on your throat for 10 minutes a day until you notice a change.
    • White angelica1Young Living oils: Chamomile (German and Roman), Frankincense, Harmony, and White Angelica. Smell them, diffuse them in a cold diffuser or apply a drop on your throat (use a carrier oil if you worry about sensitivity).
    • Wear the color blue around your throat area (scarf, etc.) because blue is the color of the throat chakra.
    • Sing! This is especially effective when you’re alone in your car jamming to 80’s music.

There are a lot of opinions out there that are conveyed in a variety of ways (in anger, to educate, etc.). Remember that when you speak your truth, do so compassionately and with the full intention of helping others.

I would love to hear your experiences with speaking your truth or holding in your truth. Post a comment and let’s chat!

Manifested Harmony has moved to Michigan!

It’s been a whirlwind of activity for the past 2 months, but I wanted to post that Manifested Harmony is now situated in Lansing, Michigan! Whew … what a leap of faith it was!

As you may know, I am a Michigander but I spent the past 11+ years in the Alexandria, Virginia/Washington DC area. I was there doing my legal work (animal protection mostly) at the national level and created Manifested Harmony in the process. I met some amazing people there and created some amazing national programs to help animals and children (check out Sheltering Animals & Families Together and Therapy Animal Supporting Kids just to name a few). But the energy of DC was very tough. And while I will greatly miss my Manifested Harmony family and friends in Virginia, I am still communicating with everyone online and look forward to visits to the area (including a retreat that I am planning).

Moving truck
Wow, that was one huge moving truck!

So why did I uproot my life, my work and move? It was purely a leap of faith. The reasons are numerous but it became clear in April 2014 that the energies were calling me back. I started to chronicle the path with some videos and found one where I declared “I’m done … I’m done, I’m done, I’m done!!!” I don’t know what I will do with my videos and journal entries, but it would really make for an excellent empowerment book. (I’ll add that to my to-do list).

Lucy and Rudy on boxes
Lucy & Rudy exploring the packed boxes.

My family is in mid-Michigan, my tribe is in Michigan, much of my work with animals is in Michigan, and everything so easily fell into place to move my healing work to Michigan. Frankly, it was crazy how easy the move happened: buying a new house (it fell into my lap at a very low price), selling my house (it sold within 8 hours on the market), negotiating remote work with my Virginia employer where I work on animal protection issues, and moving every aspect of my life and businesses. And my kitties were so brave and have settled in beautifully. It all happened with such ease and impeccable timing that I know it was divinely guided.

View from my officeHow did I do it? I spent months verbally telling people that I was moving. I started telling people in Summer 2014 that I felt the move happening in March 2015 (and I moved on March 2, 2015). I was clear in the type of house I wanted and that I wanted to overlook water but not be so close to pay for flood insurance (I overlook a beautiful river and I’m up on a hill, so no flood insurance). Every aspect of my move I visualized in my mind, I spoke with confidence and without fear because I had faith it would all work out. And guess what … it has worked out beautifully.

Some people might think I was crazy to walk away from what I had in Virginia, but I know that I have taken the best parts of that experience and combined it with the best parts of returning home. Once I got clear, the path was laid out for me.

Rudy front door March 2015So here’s my message for this blog post … if you want to do something, do it! Stop hemming and hawing about how it will work. Be really clear about what you want, vocalize it and then take the steps necessary as they appear to you. Don’t worry about how it will happen. Act as if it’s happening. This is from an ancient Universal Law and I know that I was called to test it. And you know what … IT WORKS and it’s simple. So get clear and start vocalizing.

Manifested Harmony is growing as a result of the move. I have already held 3 free online essential oil workshops and I have some free local events coming up soon. Be sure that you are on my newsletter list because that is the best way to stay in touch with what is happening in-person and online and you’ll get access to loads of free stuff including those essential oil workshops!

Keep the faith and start leaping!

Stop letting others feed on your energy

If you work with vibrational therapies (energy healing, angels, essential oils, crystals, sound, color) or are an intuitive or empath, you may experience the situation of other people are feeding off of your higher vibrational energy. Your energy will naturally raise simply by working with these modalities. Over the years, I have studied and practice the Law of Attraction, lived in synchronicity with Universal Laws, worked with Reiki, angelic healing, crystals, essential oils, color therapy and sound therapy. In doing this, my vibrational energy has increased and made me aware of this feeding.

When someone’s vibrational energy increases, there are certain groups of people who are attracted to that energy. They want to feed off of it to feel better. For some people who feed, it raises their vibrational energy and that is a great thing for our planet. For other people who feed, their vibration remains low but it drains us of our energy. That is an unhealthy relationship and it is these people who often have us feeling badly, uncomfortable and out of sorts. These people have been referred to as energy vampires. They may have no idea what they are doing, but most of us can see them a mile away. But because of our empathetic nature, we want to help them.

5 Recommendations for protecting your energy

So what can you do to maintain your high vibration while helping others? Here are my top five recommendations:

  • An intuitive in Sedona shared a brilliant technique with me. When you sense that someone is feeding from your energy, call on Archangel Michael and ask him to connect the other person with their own energy source. It’s that simple. It is a kind gesture on your part because when they can connect with their own source energy, they can raise their vibration without draining yours. If they choose not to raise their vibration, the source energy may make them feel uncomfortable and disconnected as a wake up call that they need to shift gears. They will also feel out of sync with you and stop feeding on your energy. It’s a win win for all.
  • il_570xN.557729163_2hfmWear protective crystals, but not crystals that block because blocking crystals will cut you off from helping and sensing (which is contrary to our purpose in life). A great protective crystal that keeps your vibration high is Labradorite! Put the bracelet on your dominant wrist (which sends the crystal energy out) and you will have an energy field around you that is protective and nurturing at the same time. It’s like Wonder Woman and Hello Kitty meshed together (giggle)!
  • Young Living White Angelica is a beautifully scented oil blend that protects your energy field while raising your vibration. It is specifically recommend for those working with energy therapies to transmute negative energy. Here are 3 ways I use this oil: (1) I put 1 drop on topically across the back of my shoulder blades, over my heart and over my solar plexus, (2) I spritz my healing room with White Angelica before and after sessions and (3) and I put 2 drops in my palms, rub them together, and sweep the oil over my energy field to clear energies.
  • Fill your home and/or workspace with crystals and diffuse the essential oils recommended above. Crystals that contain high levels of Quartz will instantly raise the frequency and clear any energy vampires that come into your home.
  • Make sure you have quiet reflective/meditative time everyday. This is the best way to keep yourself connected to source energy.

When you are called to work with vibrational energy, it does not mean that you sacrifice your energy at the same time. You do not have to adopt the attitude of blocking and banning other energy; instead, transmute it by protecting yourself and keeping your vibration high which then resonates with all.

The plague of deleting people

Have you ever been deleted from someone’s life without a conversation or even a goodbye? I have and it is really disturbing, right? It is baffling when someone simply walks away and deletes you without the courtesy of a conversation (whether in person or online). With the growth of social media, it is beautiful to connect across the globe with friends from the past and to make new friends. But connecting online can be superficial and it sets up a culture that when you are upset or uninterested in maintaining a connection, you simply unfriend and delete the person. I am seeing this happening more and more and it conflicts with the new energy of more compassion and connections.

I’m going to blunt to these deletors … it’s cowardly, it’s low vibrational energy, it’s immature, and we don’t want to share that energy with you. But it is hurtful when it happens.

So what’s a sensitive soul to do when you have been deleted? Here are some tried and true techniques that have helped:

  • Have a conversation with yourself that the other person’s dismissive conduct really has nothing to do with you. If it did, they would not hesitate to have a conversation of throwing blame on you if you really did something wrong. When someone just leaves without notice or conversation, it is wholly about them. And the one thing in life that you cannot control is other people.
  • Recognize that if the person was a close friend, family member or romantic partner, that you likely had a soul contract with them to learn something (and they also had something to learn). Spend quiet time reflecting on what you were supposed to learn and then LEARN IT! Otherwise you will attract another similar energy and have to learn the lesson again and again and again. When you learn the lesson, the person will disappear because the contract is complete.
  • Be grateful that the person came into your life to teach you a lesson and that you learned it and can move on. Thank them in person or write them a letter (and not send it) for the lesson and wish them well. From a true place of genuineness, send them love for their own healing and you will find that forgiveness comes faster.
  • Have a closure ceremony: Light candles, play beautiful music, diffuse essential oils, thank them and say goodbye. Even set the thank you letter on fire outdoors and send it to source energy.
  • ForgivenessThen you need to support yourself through the healing. Let yourself cry, grieve and go through the process. Don’t block it because you will just embed the hurtful energy deeper into your cells. These supportive tools can really help:
      • Essential oils: These are my favorite Young Living oils for support: Forgiveness, Highest Potential, Joy, Release, Valor and White Angelica.
      • Crystals: Lots and lots of pink and green crystals for heart chakra support. Rose Quartz, Green Aventurine, Kunzite, Prehnite are my favs.
      • Energy healing: Go for a session or two to get the hurtful energy moving out. Self healing is good, but letting someone else nurture you is even better.
      • KunziteEpsom salt baths with essential oils every day until you feel better. Epsom salts help to remove toxins and essential oils will keep your vibration high.
      • Oracle cards: Work with your favorite deck to focus not on the past, but on the present and future. You will feel better with that focus.
      • Vision boards: Change up your vision board to focus on the new relationship(s) you will attract and stay focused!

There will always be people out there who take the easy way out of a situation and simply delete you without the courtesy of a conversation. Even though it will hurt, just know that their conduct has nothing to do with you and you have tools available to help you quickly recover and attract in people who will nurture and love you.
