Why have crystals become so popular?

A friend recently asked me: “Why have crystals become so popular?”

My response: “You’re asking me as I sit in a trailer full of crystals pretending that I’m not taking most of them home? LOL”

Seriously, I’ve been an attorney since 1994 and I have a home filled with crystals and I teach crystal healing classes. What’s up with that? For me it’s two answers: (1) If something helps me feel better, calmer, more energized, I don’t need a double-blind peer-reviewed study to tell me it works. And (2) once I dove deep into learning the science of crystals, that helped me intellectual mind understand what my intuitive mind already knew … they work!

Here’s why I think crystals are growing in popularity:

  • More people are opening their eyes to all of the toxins in our food, cleaners, skincare products, makeup and more. They are feeling tired, sluggish and out of sorts and traditional options are not working. So they are trying more Earth-based products like crystals and essential oils and finding that they feel better. Placebo effect? Maybe, but in my experience it is doubtful to be placebo. We don’t need research studies to tell us whether something works.
  • Many are feeling the shift in energy that is coming from changes in Earth’s frequency, changes in planetary placements, feeling the collective energy of all beings on the planet, and our own internal shift as we evolve to the next level. The plant, animal and mineral kingdoms all communicate with each other. So humans and animal instinctively are drawn to touch a crystal. We feel the soothing nature of crystals during these times even if most can’t explain why.
  • Many are drawn to crystals to help quiet the mind, help with mindfulness, and go deeper into a meditation and spiritual practice. DIY Spirituality is big right now and crystals help!
  • More non-metaphysical businesses are delving into crystals by placing them in their stores or creating beautiful crystal products and jewelry which catch the eye of a shopper. Even the growing tech industry relies on crystals to power phones, computers and televisions.
  • Crystals are simply beautiful in how they refract light and sparkle, so some people are decorating their homes with crystals even if they do not fully understand or appreciate what crystals do to enhance the energy of a space.
  • Some people are fascinated with the ancient history and culture of crystals and how they were used thousands of years ago.
  • The essential oil world discovered crystals a few years ago. I have been blending crystals and essential oils together for over a decade but the concept has EXPLODED and spilled over to social media where crystals are getting more attention. 
  • There are reputable, educated and trained teachers offering solid crystal classes in-person and online to help people understand that these are more than pretty sparkly stones. There is an energy to crystals that has a scientific basis and explanation of what crystals do for our cells, emotions and more. I have been teaching about crystals for almost a decade and I blend the science AND the spiritual art of what crystals really do.

You have control over your health & well-being

As we continue to live in challenging times, the one thing that I hear is “we have no control over what is happening in our world and I feel so helpless.” I get it … but I’m here to tell you that YOU have more power and control than you may realize.

We are experiencing many challenges when it comes to our physical health. And that is putting stress and pressure on our emotional and mental health. And then we are being bombarded with energetic changes. Put it all together and #hotmess sums it up pretty well, right?

But you actually have power and control over your health & well-being, along with your family and pet(s) health and well-being. Because what you feed yourself (food, thoughts, emotions, and experiences) will determine your health and well-being.

If you’re like me, when you’re doing something proactive, you feel more confident and happier rather than waiting for something or someone to come to the rescue. And right now, the only rescue that can happen are the steps that YOU take. Ready?

My Top 10 Lifestyle Techniques

There are things that you can do daily that will help you regain control and joy as you maintain or improve your health and well-being. I want to share the top 10 things that I am doing daily and how it’s helping me thrive in all areas of my life no matter what is going on around me.

  • Food = Be intentional about what you consume. Make sure it’s real whole foods and organic if possible because it will give life and energy to your body. There are too many toxins being put in food and sprayed on products. That beautiful strawberry may actually harm your health if it’s sprayed. Spending a little more money on whole foods that are organic will save you a lot of money down the road in lost wages and high medical bills due to illness. While white sugar, white flour, genetically modified wheat and processed foods will harm you from the inside out by creating inflammation. If you find yourself binging on junk food during stressful times, let’s work on stress levels (see below). But in the meantime, why not retrain your taste buds to crave veggies or other whole organic foods during stress? A few years ago I forced myself to grab organic greens (brussel sprouts, broccoli, leafy greens) when I was stressed and IT WORKED! And that’s now what I crave when I’m comfort eating.
  • Water = It is important that we drink half our body weight in ounces everyday with filtered/purified water. Drinking water throughout the day (every 20 minutes take a sip) can flush your throat of viruses that want to enter the body that way. And water helps our bodies to eliminate toxins. What I love to do is add a drop of Young Living Lemon Vitality essential oil (a safe dietary essential oil) or Young Living’s Vitality Drops in Bergamot-Grapefruit that also contains beneficial electrolytes. I now crave water more than ever before!
  • Stress = Keeping daily stress at bay is really important for so many reasons. For your physical health it reduces binge eating, digestive and cardiovascular stressors, sleep issues and so much more. For your emotional health de-stressing techniques can calm the emotional rollercoaster that can result in physical issues. For your mental health it helps you focus on what is important in your life. You can literally stress yourself into physical problems. What I like to do is diffuse calming essential oils like Peace & Calming when I am working or at the end of the day. Citrus essential oils like Orange are calming yet they keep you alert so that you can focus and make good decisions. Because when we are stressed, our brain is not capable of making rational decisions. I also do deep breathing for a minute when I find myself getting worked up. And I get outside to sit or do a walking meditation along the river or Lake Michigan because nature has a calming effect on our nervous system.
  • Sleep = Getting 8 hours of quality sleep that is not drug-induced is so important to our overall health and well-being. When your brain can naturally go into deep sleep and REM modes, your body can detox, repair and rejuvenate while you sleep. Sometimes I have trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep, especially during a full moon or when the energetics of the planet are heightened. My sleep protocol involves putting away technology and TV an hour before bedtime, not eating/drinking at least 2 hours before bedtime, calming essential oils in my bedside diffuser (like Clary Sage with Lavender essential oils), Frankincense on my forehead, and Progessence Plus on my wrists (every women should be using this essential oil blend).
  • Nature = Being out in nature and moving is so important to our overall well-being. When you can put your bare feet on the ground our bodies soak up electrons from Earth that creates an anti-inflammatory and calming benefit. This is why I have been spending time at Lake Michigan every week since the weather warmed up. A 2012 study in the Journal of Environmental Public Health found that earthing promotes better sleep, reduces pain, reduces chronic stress, improve health disorders and create overall well-being for longevity. So whether you go outside and hug a tree or plant your feet on the ground, do this every day even just for a few minutes. And if weather prevents you from earthing, bring the earth inside with tree essential oils (like Cedarwood, Black Spruce and Blue Spruce) and grounding crystals like Black Tourmaline and Shungite.
  • Supplements = Even with an organic whole food diet, we often need to supplement what we eat with vitamins, minerals and other supplements. But not all supplements are made the same. Make sure that you are taking a whole-food supplement that does not contain fillers or synthetics. I personally take essential oil-infused whole food supplements. If you want to ramp up your wellness plan, check these out:
    • Vitamin A is important for a strong immune and respiratory system, and is also beneficial for vision especially since many people are spending more time online for work or staying connected to family and friends;
    • Vitamin B Complex is your happy vitamin that is also beneficial for your eyes, brain, digestive health and energy;
    • Vitamin C is necessary for repair of all body tissues and is beneficial for a strong immune system;
    • Vitamin D3 is best taken thru Mother Sun but taking the supplement daily is also beneficial for calcium absorption for strong bones, a strong immune system to fight disease and combatting the blues;
    • Zinc regulates immune function, decreases risk of age-related chronic diseases, and helps with eye health including preventing age-related macular degeneration;
    • Omega 3s have been researched for supporting lung, brain and cardiovascular health as well as improving the appearance of skin, banishing the blues, improving eye health and fight inflammation;
    • Turmeric & Curcumin are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits when combined with Black Pepper to help with absorption, beneficial for brain and cardiovascular health, and helps with depression.
  • Detox your Home = We are washing our hands more often and probably cleaning our homes more often too. If you are using toxic hand soap, hand purifier and home cleaners, are you really creating a healthy and safe environment? NO! Plant-based cleaners that are FREE of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and are important to overall health. And make sure the air in your home is clean. One of the easiest things to do is to replace all plug-ins, candles and sprays with a cool-mist essential oil diffuser and diffuse therapeutic-grade pure essential oils (not fragrance oils). Also switch to plant-based cleaners. But please do not be GREEN-WASHED by the pretty green labels in the cleaner isle at the grocery store. If you look at the ingredients and see Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, don’t buy it! I use the line of Thieves products from Young Living because I understand and have researched all of the ingredients, and the essential oils naturally clean so that it’s safe for kids and pets.
  • Detox Your Skincare = What you put on your skin can be as harmful as what you put in your mouth. So are you willing to ingest your skincare? Probably not unless you are using a truly toxic-free plant-based skincare product. The ingredients in almost all skincare and makeup products are frightening and IT’S LEGAL! My lawyer brain gets really angry about this topic. Because what you put on your skin leeches in to your blood stream. Understanding ingredients is really important, but also trusting the company to be honest about the ingredients is just as important. For my skin, I only use Young Living’s skincare and Savvy Minerals Makeup.
  • Avoid negative people/situations = Please stop watching the news and limit your time on social media. All it does is feed your worry, promote shaming by other people and implant the idea that you have no control over your life.  It was easy for me to get sucked back in to news reports when our world went crazy in March. But when I stepped away I realized that there are amazing beautiful things happening in our world right now. I also liberally use the “30 day snooze” and “unfollow” button on Facebook because I see too many friends getting sucked into negative energy. So step away from the negative people, negative situations, negative news, and if you are in a negative job we are in energy where you are being asked (and possibly forced) into reconsidering your path. Make some decisions in that regard before the decisions are made for you.
  • Daily Self-Care & Fun = It is important that you do things every day to feed your soul. I did an entire yearlong series on The Year of You Self-Care in 2018 because self-care is not getting a mani-pedi or massage. Self-care is nurturing your inner self and soul to evolve and is only something you can do. And if you don’t do it, no one else can. So create a morning/daily ritual of what feeds your soul. For me, it’s the 3 Ms: meditation (sometimes a walking meditation, laying in a crystal grid, or learning the art of surrender which is so hard for me), movement and mindfulness where I journal and visualize my day rather than letting my day smash me around. But it’s also about having fun. As we adult, it is too easy to be filled with responsibilities, concerns and worry. And our to-do list will never be completed. Taking time daily to do something fun for you will feed your inner self. For me it’s either time with friends, time at Lake Michigan or tending to my fairy garden.

Are you ready to Soar: Lessons during the Pandemic

Grab a cup of hot tea because this is a long read. I hope it stirs your inner voice to give you answers.

With social distancing and spending more time at home, I have been meditating on the energy fueling COVID-19 and the pandemic. Why is this happening? Why is this happening now? What can we learn from it? What will our world look like on the other side? Why isn’t fresh fruit and veggies going out of stock? Will toilet paper replenish?

While I continue to get more information each day, I wanted to share these insights now in hope that it lifts your energy and helps you embrace the change now happening.

There is no doubt that we are in an interesting time in our history.

Most of us now realize that our world will never be the same. Some worry they will never recover whereas others see our rebirth into something new.

The Universe/God/Mother Earth have given us all a big time out. I can almost hear the energy saying ENOUGH! You are confined at home until you learn this lesson.

So what’s the lesson? We are in a time where we are being asked to grow into a new way of thinking, a new way of doing, a new way of being, a new way of relating and living together so that we can adjust to the changing energy that has been upon us for many years. Some call it the Ascension, some say it is the natural expansion that everything in the Universe experiences.

I have been looking at the progression of what is happening around the world to help understand the deeper meaning. The shortages in supplies, quarantines, social distancing, sickness, death, business closures, the financial impact. These events are not happening to us … they are happening for us and they are happening for the benefit of the planet collectively and all inhabitants, human and animal.

Change is uncomfortable and sometimes painful, but we have lived a life full of change. As a child a new tooth coming in was uncomfortable; the WHOLE time as a teenager was uncomfortable; giving birth to a baby is uncomfortable. Our life is all about change and growth. And that is where we find ourselves again. We are all in this together to change and grow.

As I tap into the energy swirling around us, these are the questions bubbling up that I feel we are being forced to address:

  • Are we running out of paper supplies because we should stop using less and stop clogging our landfills? Is Mother Earth choking from all the people, all the junk and all the toxins that this is an energy to pivot in a better direction?
  • Are we running out of medical supplies because we have lost touch with ancient medicine? Are we so stuck in the mindset of requiring a double-blind peer-reviewed study before we believe anything that we have lost sight that our ancestors used the earth as medicine?
  • Are we producing too many toxic products that have destroyed the health of humans and animals so that we cannot naturally fight off a virus? When we fill our body with toxins and don’t follow a practice that I learned in Kindergarten (wash your hands, a lot) our body doesn’t have a fighting chance. We are being re-schooled.
  • Are we living in a culture of over-indulgence (supersize my fries, please) and eating so many processed non-foods that our body struggles to stay healthy? If we treat our body like a junkyard and fill it with foods that have no life, then how can we expect our body to be filled with life?
  • Are we living in a world so polluted that quarantine is the only way to clear our air, water, land and our minds? Wouldn’t it be nice if this quarantine had us rethink the exhaust- and stress-filled gridlock in big cities, and allowed the Earth and people to breathe?
  • Are we living to do things and check off to-do lists to where we burnout? With everyone being “so busy” and on the go (even children who are over scheduled), this quarantine and shelter-in-place is reuniting families around games and story telling.
  • Are we living so financially fragile that even going without one paycheck can put people into panic and financially devastate small and big businesses? Businesses are now re-thinking their model and being forced to adapt to survive (this is a blessing in disguise). Are you also reassessing your financial security? Hint: Put your financial eggs in more than one basket and diversify.
  • Are we being asked to physically distance from people, and hunker down with family and pets, so that we have an opportunity to sit with our thoughts, learn who we are, learn what we want, learn what our purpose is here on Earth and grow together? I think this is one of the most profound benefits of this time as we reach out to check on each other and connect in new ways.

Here’s what I find interesting about this moment in time.

Interesting Thought #1: One of the first industries to go into quarantine were the assisted living and nursing home facilities. My mom is in assisted living and it was really difficult to be with her and say goodbye when the lock down was happening. The messages I am receiving are saying this is a shift in energy to first protect and respect our elders.

Interesting Thought #2: In a year where I felt (and hoped) that we would shift offline because of online fatigue and getting bombarded with information overload, we are now required to physically distance. So instead, we are having virtual happy hours, business meetings on video conferencing, and communicating extensively via technology.  What the heck? The message behind this is still revealing itself but the lack of in-person human contact has made me reach out more to people in my life and business. It has also given me more down time due to less driving.

Interesting Thought #3: This situation is exposing financial fear for businesses and people. My heart embraces my friends and colleagues whose businesses were forced to close for an indefinite amount of time. The service industry really is the backbone of our society and they are taking the biggest impact. Years ago I strongly felt the importance of having more than one income stream; not so that I could work more hours, but so that if something happened in one of my businesses the other business could hold me up. It did not make sense to me at the time, but I did it and now I am thankful. The message I am receiving is that everyone is being asked to reassess, expand and embrace a new energy of how they receive financial abundance and income. The old ways have slowly been collapsing (greed is collapsing and heart-based businesses are growing) so we have an opportunity to create something new. A forced time-out at home will give you the time and space to know what is right for you. Work with your grounding & ascending crystals (like Ajoite, Apophyllite, Aurora Quartz, Kyanite, and Pink Himalayan Quartz), essential oils (especially Melissa essential oil and the Transformation oil blend) and mindset techniques so that you do not sink into fear and then make decisions.

Interesting Thought #4: What if everyone embraced natural wellness practices (such as energy healing, essential oils, meditation, yoga, massage) and these were approved as mainstream health practices rather than popping a pill? Let’s keep the momentum of embracing Earth-based medicine. So if you feel panic or fear, go put your barefoot on the ground, breathe in fresh air, let the sun shine on your face, and hug a tree!

Interesting Thought #5: What if we supported the producers of whole food products rather than processed food products, and plant-based products rather than products with a chemical soup of 89 ingredients? Let’s give financial subsidies to the organic brussel sprout farmer rather than the business with machines filling boxes full of toxic ingredients and passing it off as safe food. Let’s embrace the sustainability of plant-based wellness.

Will this be a scary or beautiful time in history for you?

Will you give yourself the quiet time and space to hear the changes that are right for you? Will you stop endless scrolling on social media, mind-numbing television, and comfort eating that is not life giving? Will you lean on faith, hope, prayer, meditation? Will you find a new passion project, or volunteer opportunity, or create a new food recipe to share? Will you open your home to a foster a shelter pet since most animal shelters are closed? Will you go back to less than 3 months ago and look at your 2020 New Year’s goals and reassess what is truly important?

The energy is telling me that we are being asked to change, to pivot directions, to do something different, to be someone different, to contribute, to lend a helping hand. Even if you do not understand the changing energies we have been in for years, you have probably felt them. Too many people are suffering from mysterious ailments, we are moving a break-neck speeds and burning out, we are filling our bodies/minds/spirit with junk, we are afraid …. And all for what?

The lessons of this time in history are a tremendous gift if you listen. I am keeping a journal that I call The Pandemic Papers (written in a Harry Potter journal, because Harry always wins!!!). I am documenting what I’m doing, how I’m feeling, and what I’m changing as we move into the new energies. It will be fun to read 5 years from now.

Remember, this is not happening to you … it’s happening for you. Will you allow yourself to soar?

Prepare instead of Panic

We are in a very interesting time in our history. One thing that is very important is to prepare instead of panic.

During the annual cold & flu season, we ramp up the frequency in washing hands (soap & water or hand sanitizer) and stay away from people showing signs of sickness. Right?

So let’s ramp up our proactive measures than panic.

Wellness Tips

I travel a lot and have done so for the past 17 years. It is easy to catch germs on an airplane, in a hotel and in restaurants/stores frequented during travel. Our body can be challenged while on travel when our sleep patterns are changed, and when we’re stressed. Germs have a bigger impact on us if we are struggling. But our body’s response is also challenged when it spends valuable energy fighting toxins invading our bodies. So if our cells fight daily toxins (like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate found in most personal care products), there is little left to fight germs.

Here are a few tips that may help:

  • Do NOT stress or worry. Stay informed from credible sources and avoid fear-based news and social media. Worry and fear can stress your immune system. Watch more Harry Potter and Hallmark movies! 🙂
  • Wash hands frequently. I use Thieves Hand Soap because it contains NO toxic ingredients.
  • Use hand sanitizer. I use Thieves Hand Sanitizer which contains NO toxic ingredients, cleans my hands and moisturizes them rather than dries them out. Most commercial hand sanitizers contain isopropyl alcohol which is very drying to skin.
  • Clean surfaces. When I am home I use Thieves Household Cleaner on everything, including my smartphone, computer keyboard, and my steering wheel. When I am away from home, I use Thieves Spray for door handles, light switches, airline tables and arm rests for plant-based clean.
  • Eat healthy whole foods and drink water. When you can nourish your body with real whole foods and drink half your weight in ounces in water everyday, this strengthens your immune system.
  • Get good sleep. If you have trouble sleeping, my favorite oils are Lavender oil in the diffuser, and Frankincense oil on my forehead.
  • Start eliminating toxic products. When you reduce your toxic overload, your body can begin to rebalance. Toxins slowly invade our body in small doses and after years and decades those toxins break down our natural defenses. These are the areas in life where we have the most toxic exposure. When life around you is falling apart

Have you ever had a time where you felt like everything around you was falling apart? Relationships change, people and pets get sick and pass on, jobs end, financial stress, accidents happen … and sometimes it happens all at once. It can feel overwhelming, and you may struggle to handle it all and make good decisions.

We also continue to experience some heavy and intense energy shifts in our world … and they will not be ending any time soon. These energy shifts as our Earth and Universe evolve impact all areas of our life and can create even more challenges during difficult times.

So what can you do to have a strong reservoir of energy and wellness so that you can handle those times when it feels like everything is falling apart?

Here’s what I have learned in 2019

If you are stressed, tired, depleted, over-worked, depressed, and sick, how will you ever have the energy and stamina to stand strong during a storm? The honest answer is that you won’t. Been there, done that. It’s why so many of us get physically sick after a stressful or traumatic time ends. We persevere on caffeine and will power and when the situation ends, we collapse.

What will fill your energy reservoir during good times and keep you strong during difficult times is a consistent daily practice of self-care and soul-care. Self-care was the theme of 2019 for SO many people. I love to read what other people do and teach, but I felt that so many of the recommendations were superficial. We live in a world where mani-pedis and a hot bath will not fill your reservoir with energy to keep you strong. It may feel good, but it’s superficial and not enough.

So I spent all of 2019 diving deep into self-care and ended the year with a realization that soul-care must be a part of self-care. I researched everything I could find about self-care; I engaged in a wide variety of daily techniques to see what works and what is fluff; and I learned that self-care must include soul-care.

Turn Self-Care into Soul-Care

Soul-care re-centers you to a divine connection and de-centers you from your ego running your life ragged and often in the wrong direction. Soul-care is about filling your heart with a greater purpose, giving yourself the space to connect to Source and your Higher Self to discover and pursue that purpose, and listening to your heart and your inner voice about what is right for you.

I am now putting all that I learned into practice as I handle some difficult situations that began in early November.  It’s really helping me because all year I have filled my energy reservoir so that I can now draw on it without depleting myself in the process.

So what does self-care with soul-care look like? Here a few highlights that are my daily practice:

  • Eat real food (nothing from a bag, box or drive-thru window) and drink water (lots of it). If you eat junk, your body will feel like junk. And when your body is not energized you will feel it during difficult times.
  • Give yourself permission for 5-10 minutes of quiet time every day. When you can rest your mind, you will receive insights and guidance. It will help realign you on the right life path so that you are not paddling up-stream doing the same things that exhaust you.
  • Read or learn something about personal development so that you keep growing into your best self. Personal development will strengthen your mind and character to hold you strong when things are falling apart. There are so many great authors like John Maxwell, Rachel Hollis, and Marie Forleo. Find one you resonate with and let them grow you and lift you up.
  • Do things that bring you joy and it will transform busyness and stress. Let go of things that do not bring you joy; and the things you cannot let go of, find something joyful about them. Dread, regret, misery and boredom drain your energy; joy will fill it.
  • It’s okay to say no. Change FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) to JOMO (Joy of Missing Out). If it doesn’t bring you joy, don’t do it. Leave the committee that drains you, don’t give your time to friends who don’t support you, and let go of obligation and “I have to’s”.
  • Fear is a major drain on us that can take over during difficult times. Fear is just an illusion so step over it (and give it a kick) because fear crops up when you’re on the verge of major positive growth. Fear and anxiety feel the same. And anxiety and excitement create the same reaction in your brain. So the next time you feel fear or anxiety, just say “I wonder what I’m excited about?”
  • Use essential oils to work on the limbic region of your brain if you need to work on core beliefs, a more positive mindset, and to break thru excuses so you can grow to the next level. When you have goals but your mindset is working against you, that is an energy drain that will build up over time. One of my favorites is Transformation oil.
  • Do something fun every day (or at least once a week) that gives you the freedom to laugh, smile, and let go. Adulting and all of its responsibilities can suck the energy right out of you; but a fun practice will put the energy back in.
  • Have a morning ritual. When you can start your day with a morning routine focused on you and your day (not on your phone, computer or TV), your day will go better and you will handle challenges much better. Mine changes but currently involves:
    • Drinking water (and Young Living Ningxia Red) upon waking
    • Inspiration reading
    • Gratitude
    • Affirmations
    • Ask how I can serve and then listen
    • Work on my two most important tasks first
    • Use my essential oils

What I learned this year, and what I see in so many, is that if you are not engaging in self-care and soul-care everyday, and if you think that you don’t have time, then you are not living your life. Then when challenging times happen, you will feel like everything around you is falling apart. But if you engage in self-care and soul-care everyday, when things are falling apart at least one of those things will not be you.

Tools for Crisis, Trauma and Stress

I am writing this as Hurricane Florence is decimating the Carolina coastline and creating life threatening circumstances for too many people and animals. No matter where you live, each area has its share of natural disasters …. from hurricanes, flooding, wildfires, earthquakes, and more.

Often we have warning and can prepare for these natural disasters, but sometimes we cannot. A weather disaster can shake us to the core of our survival instincts because it often involves having to flee our home and can even result in the physical and emotional loss of our homes.

Once our survival instincts kick into high gear, it can be weeks, months and sometimes a lifetime before our physical and emotional body can get back to normal. When we go into survival mode, our adrenals begin to produce excess cortisol and it can quickly drain our endocrine system and impact our entire body.

In 2003, I was in a situation where I had very little choice but to move away from my home and family for employment reason. It was traumatic and it pretty much destroyed my adrenals (which are still working to fully rejuvenate). And when I lived in Alexandria, VA, there were several times when remnants of hurricanes and tropical storms required me to get prepared to evacuate. It was all very stressful. Crisis, trauma and stress will absolutely take a toll on the body.

For some people, knowing that others (especially helpless animals) are suffering during a weather event can bring on vicarious trauma and empathetic stress as if you are too experiencing the event. I know … I’ve been there in my animal protection legal work and when I volunteered in Jackson, Mississippi to help animals after Hurricane Katrina. I returned home a complete stressed-out and traumatized mess. And watching 24/7 news coverage also does not help (which is why I recommend heavy doses of The Hallmark Channel and Harry Potter movies during stressful times).

So what can you do when you are in the middle of a crisis, traumatic or stressful situation, whether it’s weather-related or not? These are a few simple tools that I have used for myself and my kitties to keep us calm and well.

  • For a weather-related event, be prepared by having a Grab-N-Go bag ready for every member of the family, including pets. Being prepared will give you great peace of mind and help you move quickly to get everyone to safety with less stress.
  • If you are attuned to an energy healing modality, give yourself, your children and/or your pets healing energy frequently. If you are not, simply rub your hands together and place them on your heart, on your children’s back and on your pets. Once you can calm your heart, you will be able to share that with others.
  • Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a great way to start moving the crisis energy out of your system. Here is a great video on relief for people in crisis from Brad Yates (my EFT guru). Tap frequently until you feel relief.
  • If you are calm, those around you will be calm. The most effective and fast-acting calming tool that I use are my Young Living essential oils. My favorites are Lavender, Stress Away, Peace & Calming, Valor, and Sacred Mountain. Diffuse these therapeutic-grade essential oils so that everyone can benefit, including pets. And topically apply for added benefit. And if you are fleeing a disaster zone by car, having a car diffuser with calming essential oils may help to cut the energy of the crisis.

Preparing is the key for when a weather-related disaster occurs; Self-care is the key to a speedy recovery.

Balance and Grow your Life: Is it really possible?

If you ask the Oola Guru and Oola Seeker, they will say YES!

The Oola Guru (Troy Amdahl @oolaguru) and Oola Seeker (Dave Braun @oolaseeker) are two moving’ and shakin’ guys who created the Oola movement. They are helping people balance and grow in all areas of their life. When I first met them in 2014 I thought Is that even possible?

Imagine these 7 areas of life are shaped like a tire. If the tire is lopsided it would be a bumpy ride. If it is deflated in all areas, you wouldn’t go anywhere. But when it’s equal on all 7 sides (balanced) and inflated (growing), you glide easily to your destination.

If you’re doing awesome in your Field (career) but lacking in friends or fun, you’re lopsided. If you’re rocking it on faith and family but financially broke, you’re lopsided. All 7 areas connect. When one struggles, others feel it and it’s a bumpy ride.

Next came the Oola collaboration with Young Living Essential Oils where you can use essentials oils specifically labeled to help you balance and grow those 7 areas of life. What’s going on with the Earth’s heartbeat?

The Schumann Resonance (vibration of the earth) historically has held at 7.83 Hz. And when our bodies are at that frequency, we feel our best.

Since 2014, there have been notable spikes and increases. In January 2017 for the first time in recorded history, it rose to 36 Hz and it held there for days. Click here to track it. Is this a natural process for the earth, or are humans creating the increase?

All life forms on Earth resonate with Schumann’s Resonance. When life forms are in sync with Schumann’s Resonance, they are the most balanced and well. Researchers have studied how human consciousness and intention can impact the earth’s magnetic field. Some researchers have found that the magnetic field is in tune with human beta and theta frequencies and be influenced by such. Spikes in the Schumann Resonance have been seen during times of extreme stress and anxiety. For example, the Schumann Resonance dropped right before the attacks on 9-11 and then rose immediately after. So we see this connection between humans and the earth being documented.

Throughout years of what I call “my energy education,” one of my teachers spoke of how beings on earth go through “DNA upgrades”. These upgrades happen in cycles (62 million year cycles). We are in the process of a cycle now. Scientists are watching for the Earth’s poles to slip, tracking solar flares and coronal mass ejections from the sun, all of which are impacting the inhabitants of Earth. This DNA upgrade happens during changes in the Earth resulting in extinctions and new species appearing. In essence, changes in the earth cause changes in us. And we can either go with the changes or feel the effects of resisting.

So what could be the cause of this? I could easily give you a bunch of scientific theories, but you can Google all of this. Instead, I find the energy and spiritual aspect of it all far more fascinating. Is the magnetic field of the earth weakening and causing this? Are we awakening to where our human blinders are coming off? Is the veil lifting and our intuition is opening? Are humans raising their vibration and the Earth is following suit? Or is the Earth rising and (some) life forms are following?

What do we typically feel with a spike in Schumann Resonance? We may feel that time is speeding up (or is the speeding up of time causing the spikes?). We feel more tired, rollercoaster emotions, depression, ungrounded, more aches and pains, sudden onset of diseases, sudden passing of beings. Some people are downright going crazy and others are following down the crazy path. These upgrades make us feel icky.

What do I personally believe about this? I believe that we are in a significant energy shift where it’s possibly the final battle between old and new energies. We left the Age of Pieces (age of war) and entered the Age of Aquarius (matriarchal peaceful energy) … the exact timing is unknown but it happened in recent years. The old is grasping to maintain control and the new is awakening and becoming more active. The more that new energy emerges, the more that old energy is bubbling up for one last hurrah. It’s like buried bodies reaching up through the ground for one last grasp at power (sorry to be so graphic). Isn’t that what we’re seeing not just in the U.S. as a result of our 2016 election and continuing exposure of corruption and wrongdoing, but also around the world? The new energy is a bright light shining on things that were previously underground and secret. Times are changing.

Humans are waking up. It seems clear that people are fed up with lies, corruption, wrongdoing, war, harm and negativity. People are speaking up, contacting their elected officials, protesting, getting active … and this is happening on both sides of the fence with each feeling equally correct. When I step back and look at current events from an energetic lens, it’s fascinating to watch it unfold. From a reality lens, it downright terrifying. But if you get sucked into the terror, the old energy becomes empowered.

So what can you do? I think the most important thing is to ride this along with the earth and don’t fight it. So it’s time to up your frequency, listen to and go with your intuition (even if it seems to push against mainstream, status quo, normal ways of life), and stay very true to yourself free from influence from anyone or anything that does not ring true with your higher self.

Here are my survive and thrive steps!

  • Anyone who believes that they can effectively survive and thrive on 6 hours or less of sleep is so tired that they can’t think straight. Get a straight 8 hours or so of sleep each night and let your mind and body rejuvenate. Take electronics (especially Wi-fi, phones, and anything with that blue flickering light) out of your bedroom because it messes with your brain waves and doesn’t allow you to sleep properly. Make your bedroom a sanctuary. Diffuse Lavender oil, put Frankincense on the bottom of your feet and Cedarwood on your forehead (my magic combination). If you’re wired and tired at bedtime, add some Idaho Balsam Fir over your adrenals (above your kidneys on your back). When you’re tired, stop working and rest (this is huge advice coming from a workaholic). If you’re constantly sick, rest! Be like my cats and rest.
  • For me that means significantly less time on social media and little or no national news. Social media is a window into those people who are losing their ever-loving mind. Unfollow or unfriend them to keep your feed clean. There seems to be far more negativity on Facebook and Twitter, whereas Instagram is full of happy photos! So if you need to choose, go with Instagram. When I am on social media I keep it positive, uplifting, solution driven with healing tools for people and animals, snapshots into my life, and loads of photos of cute animals and essential oils. Follow me on Instagram and let’s join the positivity revolution there!
  • Walk away from toxic people. Many people will not be able to handle the rising in Schumann Resonance. So if anyone brings you down, makes you angry, or gives you a negative feeling, walk away. Some people you don’t need to maintain a relationship with, but others you do (like family, bosses, coworkers). Until you can raise yourself up enough to handle the negative energy, limit your time around them.
  • Lots of pure water. Make sure your water is from a pure source and really check where it comes from. There are too many shenanigans going on right now when it comes to food/product/water/air/everything safety. So do your own research and empower yourself with knowledge!
  • Eat whole foods. Buy organic (which is more affordable than ever), eat fresh and raw foods, stop processed foods and chemical-filled drinks. Look at ingredients because there are toxins in almost everything and it’s legal. Also really think about the energy of where your food came from. I respect everyone’s dietary choices, but I see those who are making poor choices have poor energy and poor health. You are what you eat. So if you are eating meat from a factory farm, the terror and fright that the farm animals encounter energetically embeds into them and you are ingesting it. If the veggies and fruit are coming from countries where laborers are treated poorly, or where chemicals are used, that toxic energy is going into you. Start being very very picky about what goes into your body and know WHERE your food comes from because 90-95% of all cancers are environmental and lifestyle (not genetic).

  • Put your bare feet on the ground to sync with the rising Schumann Resonance. This is called Earthing and I blogged about it previously.
  • Get the toxins out of your body and home because they mess with your thinking and create havoc with your health. Click here to learn more. And here’s a webinar that I did on a non-toxic lifestyle that will change your life!
  • Purify the energy in your home:
    • Essential oils = make sure they are good ones, pure therapeutic grade oils that are safe for people, babies, pets and that can be used aromatically, topically and internally. Here’s what I use that the kitties and I swear by! Put oils in a cold diffuser and run it throughout the day. Aim for high frequency essential oils. Don’t know what the frequencies are? Join my oil group and let me teach you!
    • Crystals = the bigger the better. Get the crystals that you’re drawn to because that’s what you need. Go get the biggest one that you can afford and plop it in the middle of your house. If you can, do the same for your bedroom. Let it clean the energy of the air and up the vibe in your home.
  • Himalayan Salt Lamps = I have 2 of these on all the time. They are known for cleaning the air. Think of a time when you went swimming in the salty ocean, or when you soaked your body/feet in Epsom salt, or when you drank a salt-rimmed Margarita! You felt awesome, right? Salt is healing. If you have a Home Goods in your area, I have found that they often have salt lamps on sale at amazing prices.

  • Do something fun every day! In the final days of February, a friend gave me a daily Fun Challenge. Even though I love every aspect of my multi-careered work, I tend to work ALL THE TIME! Doing something completely non-work related every day for 8 days and solely for frivolous fun changed my energy very quickly. For the first time in 35+ years, I put on my Junior High School roller skates (yes, they still fit) and went rollerskating!!! I saw tangible results and got greater insight into my work and life. One tangible result was that I achieved the rank of Young Living Silver after 18 months of very slow progress (that is a leadership rank within Young Living). And while there were a variety of factors that contributed to this achievement, I know that the Fun Challenge was the only thing I did differently compared to previous months. Be fun, be happy!
