Manifesting is neither easy nor comfortable

Thank you to my dear friend, Dawn, for being a guest blogger and sharing her story!

Concept of selfManifesting is neither easy nor comfortable.   Sounds daunting, doesn’t it?  But now that I am on the other side of manifesting some amazing changes, my life has become an adventure.

Thanks to Allie, I learned that manifestation is more than a vision board – though that is certainly a helpful tool.  Sure we’ve been told to just put a picture of a mansion onto a cork board and magically we will own that exact house 5 years later, but I’ve learned that manifestation takes a lot of uncomfortable work…on myself.

What I’ve learned through Allie’s classes and her feedback, along with other great sources such as Abraham Hicks and Dr. Wayne Dyer, is that we manifest and attract who and what we are.  Therefore, my hard work included truly evaluating my current surroundings, circle of friends, and circumstance; understand that these are all simply a reflection of who I am; determine what needed to change and improve in my life; then do the hard work.

Once I really delved into self-examination, began to question my belief system, and started making changes, things around me started to change, too.  But here’s what so unexpected: things started to fall away in a way that made me very uncomfortable.  Job, anyone?  Both my and my significant other’s jobs went away due to contract changes.  I fought this, cried, worried, and crunched numbers despite the fact that we both hated our Joe-Versus-the-Volcano jobs where we were taken for granted.

My significant other then had an opportunity in the desert of California, and for some reason the job kept getting delayed.  Needless to say I was constantly working on my vision board pinning words that described the pay, location, hours, etc. of the work we’d like to have.

Then I heard Abraham Hicks say something that I remembered from Allie’s class: You manifest through feelings.  Allie then helped us start from scratch, and our reworked dream job looked like this:

  • I am excited every morning to go to work.
  • I am appreciated by the company.
  • I enjoy working with my coworkers.
  • I feel supported by my company.
  • I am accurately compensated for my work.
  • I feel freedom.
  • I contribute and am appreciated.

Within a few weeks, the California job fell through to our dismay.  But Allie helped us realize that the California job went away, because we were no longer attracting it thanks to adjusting our belief system. (As a side note, we later learned that it was a not-so-friendly working environment.  What a relief to know that we are no longer attracting that!)

After working an enjoyable four-month temporary contract, we were once again living off of savings waiting for the right job to come along.  We were advised to be open to anything, so my significant other considered  jobs in upstate New York, Southern Maryland, Northern Virginia, Virginia Beach, Florida, Nevada, even Abu Dhabi.

At the point of exhausting our savings, he received a call about an amazing job. Within 24 hours he was hired to work all around the world doing what he loves, and I am allowed to travel with him.  He will will work from home when not traveling until he’s required to move to the office location, which just happens to be our number one choice of cities.  We had been trying to move there since we first started this process two years ago.  What a crazy journey!

Note from Allie: I am so blessed that Dawn shared this story. Manifesting is not simply wishful thinking (although that is a good start). It requires making a decision, getting clear and staying focused. Manifesting what you truly desire (not what your brain or society tells you to desire) is not just for gurus, famous people, and people with 6-figures in their bank account … it is available to all of us. Manifesting around you belief system and blocks takes time. But with genuine desire and focus, it can be yours!

Get your own beliefs

Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve

Did you know that your belief system creates your current reality? What you believe is what you create. When I first heard this about 8 years ago, I thought “holy schizzle, no wonder I’m not happy with parts of my life.” Since then I have found this concept so fascinating that I have been delving into research and books about beliefs while doing my own excavation of beliefs. The book Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton is a book that I highly recommend. It will start you on your belief-busting adventure.

In a nutshell, beliefs control our genes and DNA blueprint. So our cells are programmed with beliefs. Most people are shocked to hear that and instantly go into denial. It is a pretty heavy weight to know that you are actually in control of your life, rather than genetics and the world in general being in control.

How does this play out? If you believe that you will be overweight because you have overweight family members, guess who will be overweight? If you have people who tell you that you are genetically pre-destined to have a certain disease, guess who is thinking about that (consciously and subconsciously) but then surprised when that disease manifests? If you believe that you are not successful and money is hard to come by, guess who will be struggling in work and finances their entire life? If you believe that relationships are difficult, then guess who will struggle to authentically connect to others? Does any of this sound familiar? Am I touching a cord yet?

Our beliefs are programmed into us very early in life (around age 6!!!) before we have a chance to say “I don’t like that belief so I’m not taking it on.” Most of our beliefs are from well-intended family, friends, schools, churches, community and society influences. With the onslaught of social media, I feed terrible for the kids today who are growing up bombarded by other people’s messages. These influences are often very negative, limiting, and are meant to keep us safe. In essence, they are meant to keep us small and from living large.

Safe = status quo = stagnation = not living your true life path = unhappiness

The other day, I saw a belief system in action and I pushed back. Someone cautioned me about going too fast on something. This person knows me fairly well, but they did not know the facts of the situation and they clearly do not know that when I have my mind set on something, I go for it! I’m not careless and I give great thought to things. But I go for it and do not let fear interject because I listen to my intuition. When I receive numerous signs to proceed I follow them and it always ends up great! What I saw was this person trying to impose their limiting belief system on me. Uh … no thanks! And when I thought about it, this person has a nice life but there are financial/health/relationship struggles. So why would I want that?

Everyday we receive limiting beliefs from other people. Being aware is critical to maintaining our own healthy belief system. This recent encounter impressed upon me (again) that we all need to get our own belief system in check and clean up what should not be there. When you analyze what your beliefs are about money, career, relationships, family, health, spirituality, and more, you will learn a lot about yourself and you will learn if you are holding onto beliefs that are not in your best interest. You may find that some beliefs imprinted in you by others are actually beliefs that you want to keep. But it is very important that we dig deep and find beliefs that are not in our best interests. These beliefs are like having a nagging person constantly belittling us, wearing us down, having us live a small life, and never taking any chances. For if we never take chances, we stop growing. And if we continue to allow outdated beliefs from others control our lives, we might as well sleepwalk through life because we certainly are not living our life.

So I encourage you to read up on beliefs (I highly recommend Biology of Belief) and you will notice that things start to shift, you may feel less fear and more courage, you start noticing signs and taking action on them, and then your life starts to shape into a life that you actually want! It’s amazing when it happens. And with 2015 being so fresh … go for it!

Are we programmed to expect failure?

i only see the good and loveWhen I talk to people about the Law of Attraction, I explain how our beliefs can block us from manifesting what we desire and that these beliefs can block our positive thinking. These beliefs are engrained in us before the age of six. Most often we are unaware of what these beliefs are, but they determine how we go about our life because they work in our subconscious (which governs 95% of our thoughts and actions). They also program us what we expect out of life.

Every now and then I will spend a day where I do not work or even get on the computer. I will often veg out with some of my favorite movies and I love romantic comedies. And it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen Under the Tuscan Sun, The Proposal, or Leap Year; I love the message of perseverance and hope.

Last month, I saw the new movie About Time with Rachel McAdams and Dromhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley from the Harry Potter movies). As I watched the movie, I continued to brace myself for a tragedy in their romantic relationship. When the movie ended and there was no tragedy in their relationship, I was relieved. Then I realized that I had spent most of the movie expecting an argument, breakup or other tragedy (and gorging on a lot of buttered popcorn). With all of the romantic comedies I have seen, I have been programmed to expect a blow out in the key romantic relationship. I never realized that until I saw About Time.

Now imagine how many false beliefs are engrained in your subconscious? Our beliefs control our response to events and control how we view the world. Our beliefs affect our energy vibration and your life right now is as a result of your belief system. Some common false beliefs are:

  • I have to work hard to make a living
  • Money is hard to get
  • Relationships are difficult
  • I’m not good enough
  • Prepare for the worst, but expect the best
  • Life is a struggle
  • And all of those little voices running through your head.

Our beliefs are programmed by our family, schools, religious institutions, friends, society, and the media. And while they have good intentions, we are raised to expect failure and to prepare for the worst. We are born with love and raised with fear. These lenses of fear and failure taint our view of life. When we expect failure or something to be fearful of, we will find it. That will be the life that we live.

Now imagine reprogramming your beliefs to live with hope, expectancy, and love? What do you think you will find each day? You’ll find more happiness in everything you do and see.

When you can dig deep and unearth your core beliefs, you may realize that there is no factual support for the belief. So how do you identify your core beliefs? Just simply look around and listen to the words that you use everyday. That’s a good start. You can also meditate to hear what your inner voice tells you. You can also look at your reactions to stressful situations. Do you react with fear or with hope?

While your core beliefs may be controlling your life right now, once you consciously become aware of those beliefs and work to change them, they will lose their control. That is when you notice that you look at the world differently. And just maybe you will watch a romantic comedy without the expectation for the key relationship to endure a tragedy.

All my best,
