If your pet could talk, what would s/he say to you?
I’m nervous
I’m anxious
I’m afraid
I’m stressed by the new baby/new pet/new person in our home
I’m having digestive issues
I’m having itchy skin
I’m having problems with my food
I’m not happy with my litter box
Thank you for giving me a home … I love you so much
We want the best for our 4-legged (and feathered) family, right? We would do anything for them. We do our best to feed them the healthiest species-appropriate food. We hire pet sitters, doggy day care facilities, groomers, trainers, behaviorists. We buy them birthday gifts, holiday gifts, celebrate their adoption anniversary.
Sometimes we do not realize that the loving home we provide for our pet is not the healthiest environment. The air in our homes can be up to 5 times more polluted than the air outside. And the emotional energy can be toxic as well.
There are some easy things that you can do to create a healthy non-toxic environment for your pet.
Use a plant-based all-natural cleaner in your home. Pets walk all over everything, right? And then they lick their paws. So if you’re not willing to lick your cleaners, then a change is needed. This is what I use.
Remove chemically-filled toxic candles, plug-ins, sprays and aerosols and switch them out to diffuse pet-safe essential oils. I only recommend Young Living essential oils because other brands do not promote their oils to be used with pets.
Stella enjoys her naturally cleaned blanket.
Clean bedding and toys in a plant-based all-natural laundry soap. Most “green” laundry products contain harmful ingredients like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. This is what I use because my cats sleep face down on their blankets.
Buy organic hand-made toys since too pet toys are made of toxic materials. Our pets put toys in their mouth so any toxins can soak in through the mucous membranes.
And other recommendations are detailed in my book The Oily Pet.
But what do you do when your dog is constantly anxious, over-reacting to the door bell, barking excessively, or the cat is vomiting or not using the litter box for no medical reason?
We instinctively know that something emotional or energetically is wrong. But we run up the veterinary bills and walk out with no answers. It’s frustrating, right?
These are the questions that I get the most. This is the focus of what I do.
I have loved animals ever since I could walk. As an attorney for the past 26 years (and former prosecuting attorney) I have dedicated my legal career to helping animal victims. I have spent over 20 years volunteering and fostering for animal shelters and rescues. And for a decade my healing business has been focused on helping people and pets transform to an energetically healthier lifestyle.
Marni welcomes Reiki at the shelter and in a twist of fate 15 months latershe became a burn victim and came into foster care with me to heal.
I understand animals at an intuitive and energetic level. Pets are sensitive to human’s emotions and are highly sensitive to the changes happening to our planet.
This is what I help you understand and empower you with the tools to help your pet.
Reiki helps your pet relax because a relaxed body can repair and release blocks
Crystals work energetically at the cellular and DNA level and all energy layers
Essential oils can work rapidly on physical and behavioral imbalances so long as they are pet-safe
If you have a beloved 4-legged family member that is physically or behaviorally struggling, empower yourself by checking out my pet classes below. Your pet will thank you with snuggles and kisses!

Is it ethical to send energy healing to a person or animal without their permission? This is a very sensitive topic for some healers. No matter where you look these days, you will encounter stories of people and animals who are suffering, hurt, in harms way or passing.
It is natural for a healer to want to send healing during times of suffering. This is a compassionate, empathetic response that is normal. Good intentions are admirable and much needed in this world. But it is important to look to your energy healing training on any ethical guidelines that you received. For most modalities, permission from the energy healing recipient is required. It is actually considered a violation of our ethical standards to send healing to anyone (person or animal) without permission. Why? A doctor, accountant, or other professional would not provide a service without permission, right? The same goes true for energy workers. But most important, the energy that you send could end up interfering with any healing work that they may already be doing and may not be in the person or animal’s highest good.
So how do you ask permission?
If the person is with you, just ask!
If the person is at a distance and you can contact them, ask for permission!
If the person is at a distance and you do not know them to ask permission, meditate and quiet your mind, look at their photo (if you have one) and mentally send them a question asking if they would welcome some healing energy. The first thing that comes to mind is their answer. If the answer is no, it must be respected. But you can certainly ask again another time.
If it is an animal that is with you, follow the same procedure above. Quiet yourself, sit with the animal, ask them (out loud or in your mind) if they would welcome healing. Listen for an intuitive answer or watch to see if they move towards you. If they move away or give a clear signal that they do not want healing, always respect it and stop. You can always try again later. Never ever force energy healing on an animal … that is absolutely an ethical no no!
If the animal is at a distance or you do not know, quiet your mind, focus on their photo (if you have one) and follow the same procedure above to see if you get an intuitive answer. Only if you get a signal to proceed should you offer healing.
If any any point you do not get a clear answer or are uncertain, be cautious and do not send healing.
In some modalities, such as Integrated Energy Therapy (an angelic healing), you can send healing without permission and the energy will be stored for the person or animal and when they are ready to receive it, that is when it will arrive for them.
We all want to help and it can be heartbreaking to watch others in pain. But we must avoid sending energy when it’s not welcomed. So before you activate that glorious healing, stop, ask permission, and only send if you receive a clear verbal, physical, or intuitive message to proceed.
Happy Healing!

I am often asked how often a person or a pet should receive energy healing. The answer I give is dependent upon whether there is an immediate or chronic issue at hand, or whether the goal is to maintain balance and wellbeing. But my answer is usually the same …. Consistency.
Energy healing works with the body’s energy field (which is also called the subtle energy field). Some people do not feel much, other than relaxation, after their first session. I notice changes and energy shifts when someone is consistent with their energy sessions. And this consistency can either be in having someone else provide the energy healing, or taking a class to learn how to provide your own healing.
Energy healing is like exercising. The first time, you may feel great. But if you don’t do it again, or if you put too much time in between sessions, you will not notice much change. Like exercising, even short sessions with frequency will provide the best results.
For someone who is otherwise healthy and wants to maintain balance and wellbeing, I recommend once a month session with a healer (and/or weekly self-healing). If someone is dealing with an imminent or chronic issue (either physical or emotional), I recommend weekly sessions for the 4-6 weeks (until an obvious shift is noticed) and then moving to twice monthly then monthly sessions (and/or daily self-healing).
For pets, I recommend short (15-20 minute) sessions with frequency according to the same schedule as above.
I have tested this schedule with numerous human and pet clients. Those who are consistent are achieving the results that they want (thus getting their money’s worth).
So what can you do?
Locate an energy healer and schedule consistent sessions. Review your budget of how you spend your money (food, housing, etc.) and recognize the importance of budgeting for your health and wellbeing. If you’re in the Northern Virginia/DC area, I offer healing sessions and can help you set up a consistent schedule of wellbeing.
Take an energy healing class so that you can learn how to provide self-healing. Offering self-healing not only hones your skills, but will give you the consistency you need for those positive energy shifts. I offer these classes that benefit people and pets: Usui Reiki, Crystal Healing, and Integrated Energy Therapy.
Wear crystals everyday! I always wear crystals with each providing different energies. Sometimes I need grounding, other times I want to sooth inflammation. You can find crystal bracelets and other jewelry at metaphysical stores or at Healingcrystals.com.
Schedule quiet time (meditation) into your day. When you can quiet your mind, you will relax which will allow your body to start balancing.
Occasional or inconsistent sessions are certainly better than nothing. But you may not see the results that you want; results that you desire that brought you to energy healing in the first place. And while one session will get the process started, consistency will allow the energy to build upon itself and you will then have noticeable energy shifts. For me, daily energy healing is what helps me to deal with stress, our changing planetary energies, and to maintain balance and wellbeing.
Happy Healing!

I am a natural-born teacher and I love to share information with people. Whether it’s a crowded room of over 1000 people, or a small class of two people, I love to watch people’s eyes open wide when teaching resonates deep within. I especially love to create interesting classes and share innovative ideas.
So I want to share with you 3 reasons why I think you would benefit greatly from taking the energy healing classes that I offer through Manifested Harmony:
When you learn about how energy works to positively and negatively impact our body (or the body of your companion animal), you can take steps to make sure that you are living in a way to help your body thrive. And when your body is healthy and vital, the rest of your life goes smoothly.
When you learn a energy healing method, whether it’s Reiki, Crystal therapy, Integrated Energy Therapy, or even the teachings of the Law of Attraction, you can begin to work on yourself, your family, friends, and companion animals. You will learn techniques that you can immediately put to use!
Once you open yourself to energy healing techniques, you will notice that things begin to positively shift in your life. You may feel more emotionally balanced, you will have less fear and doubt, you will see the good in people/situations, and you will appreciate all that you have with more gratitude (which will then bring more to you to be grateful about). Life will be better!
So to help everyone take a small teensy weensy step into the world that I like to call vibrational healing, I have created an afternoon class called Introduction to Vibrational Healing. For only $49 (a small investment in your well-being), you can learn about different energy healing techniques. The class is being held in Alexandria, VA on June 15th! If you don’t live in the area, don’t worry because I will also offer the class online later in the summer.
Or if you’re ready to dive in, these classes are already on the calendar:
If you work or volunteer with animals, you can receive 20% of your registration fee. With each class, you will receive practical hands-on session experience, a detailed workbook and a certification of completion. Each class is really fun, packed with information, and you will feel amazing spending a day with healing energy.
Taking an energy healing class is a wonderful investment in your well-being and those around you. I hope to see you in class soon!!

Let’s see a show of hands … how many of you are already stressed out over the holidays? Many of you have family arriving (or are expecting to travel), have a lengthy to-do list of gifts to purchase, and are worried about money. Many people look forward to, yet dread, the holiday season. Did you know that your companion animals pick up on your worry and stress and can manifest an illness or behavioral problem?
Companion animals are like magnets to their people; they know when we are sick or stressed and try to comfort us. But in their compassion, they also take on our stress so that it is lessened on us. So what’s a person to do to have a happy holiday pet?
1. Don’t change the quality or quantity of time that you spend with your pet. A sudden change, including ignoring your pet, can result in your companion animal getting your attention in a negative way.

2. Shake off your negative or stressful energy before you enter your home. I like to do a sweeping technique where I take my right hand and brush 2 inches above my body down the left side (sweeping the energy down) and then switching hands. It takes 5-10 seconds and you will notice a calmer you. Or you can ground yourself by touching nature (yes, be a tree hugger) or simply do a few rounds of deep breathing.
3. Give your pets a safe and quiet space in your home for when family and visitors are around. Some pets thrive around visitors, whereas others feel stressed.
4. Be sensitive to what your pet wants (not what you want). If your pet enjoys visitors, include them in on the festivities and being a part of your family. If your pet is nervous around visitors, do not force them to interact.

5. If you are going away for a day or more, find care for your pet that benefits your pet. For most pets, this would include a doggy walker or pet sitter that comes to your home. While it may be easier for you to place your pet at a boarding facility, is that really what is best for your pet?
6. Be consistent in your pet’s diet. If you do not feed table scraps, then do not start during the holidays. Your cat may be thrilled if you have Tom the Turkey on your dining room table. But if your cat does not eat human-grade food, then partaking in Tom can upset the tummy.
7. Be cautious of live holiday plants that you bring into your home (or while walking your dog). Here are some lists of plants that are poisonous to pets: from VetMedicine and from the ASPCA Poison Control Center. Also be sure to read the labels on pet toys to make sure they were made with safe materials.

8. Talk to your pet! Tell them what is going on, parties that have been planned, visitors that are expected, and any change in schedule. You may think they do not understand, but they really do.
9. Consider calming techniques such as: energy healing (Reiki, crystal healing); engaging in touch with your pet (just hold your hands on your pet’s heart and back for a few minutes); natural calming products such as Feliway, Comfort Zone or Rescue Remedy; and playing soothing music in the room for your pet during parties. Or give me a call to come over and provide energy therapy to your pet(s) or do so remotely, and even check out the new line of Elixirs that are infused with healing crystals and Reiki.

10. And lastly, show gratitude to your companion animal(s) during the holiday season and thank them for being a beautiful part of your life. And for those companions who have passed on (like my Oscar and Sammy this year), thank them for being your guardian angels.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of offering energy healing therapy to five horses with the West Wind Farm in Aldie,Virginia. Although I grew up in a small rural Michigan town surrounded by animals, I have not had experiences with horses. To help me when I teach Integrated Energy Therapy® for Pets (which has a horse component), I felt the draw to have hands-on energy sessions with horses so that they could teach me how they respond to and absorb the energy. And in the process, the horses would receive healing energy. In the energy world, horses are pure spirit in physical form, and are magnificent (not boastful) about their physical and energy size. A horse’s purpose is to help people get in touch with their spirit. This is why people often say that horses are “spirited.” Horses also have a very large heart center.
I was a little anxious about the sessions because I have not had many close-up experiences with horses. They are so large and magnificent. I am unfamiliar with their behavior and I did not want to react in a way to make them unsure or nervous. What was completely unexpected was that the horses instantly made me feel comfortable. Even with their largeness, they were gentle giants. What surprised me even more was how communicative the horses were, especially in intuitive messages that they shared with me.
I first worked with Coasta who was so patient and gentle throughout the session. He was my “test horse” where I was learning the twitches, movements and whether he was comfortable. I sensed that Coasta was putting pressure on himself to do more work as a horse … to be a better horse. When I was energizing that particular area, he started pawing at the ground with his front hoof. One of the riders said that he was indicating that he wanted to go out riding (e.g., to be a horse). And as I was working in the kidney area, he swatted me with his tail and I jumped about 4 feet. He had a smirk in his eye as if to say “gotcha”!
Martini
I then worked on Martini, who is 18-years-old. He was also very gentle and curious about the energy. When I was working on an area where threat is stored, Martini sent me a message that he felt nervous of some little rodents (squirrels or opossum) that would run around very fast and he could not keep visual track of them and it made him nervous. I worked to release that threat and to let him know that he does not need to fear them because they likely are more afraid of him. When I did that, he visibly relaxed, almost as if he was exhaling. Martini also had blockages in an area where “shoulds” are stored. His owner indicated that he was in a show a few days earlier and one day did not show well. Martini was sending the message that he knew he should have done better. When that energy was clearing for him, he started to lick his lips (a sign of submission to the energy) and looked like he was actually talking (releasing something that he wanted to say).
Paul
Tall Paul was my next teacher. Paul is the largest horse at the stable. For horse people, he’s 17.2 (17 hands tall). I had to stand on my tippy toes to reach his neck and had to ask him to lower his head so that I could work on that area. Paul is 9-years-old and full of energy. His owner was unsure whether he would stand still for the 30 minute treatment. While he was a little fidgety at the beginning, to all of our amazement he settled down and accepted the energy. When I felt Paul’s heart energy, it almost knocked me off balance. It was so huge and loving, it was very emotional to feel. Paul sent me messages about how he loves hanging around with his horse friends and his owner shared that Paul and Martini are best friends. Also during the session, Paul sent me a message that he was feeling claustrophobic. I was confused by the message because we were inside this huge arena. I shared the message with his owner and she indicated that Paul is not housed in an indoor stall because he gets upset being confined, so he is housed outdoors where he feels more freedom. I was incredible that Paul shared that feedback with me. Near the end of the session, I moved to his right side and Paul physically moved away from me. I approach him slowly, but he moved away even more. His owner shared that he has an old stifle injury (to his leg as a result of when he was a racing horse). Not wanting to push the energy on him, I stood back about 3 feet and asked him if he wanted the energy from a distance. Paul seemed much more comfortable. Afterwards, Paul went out for exercise and the rider informed me that Paul was more agile, almost playful, aside from the stifle injury.
Eloise
Lastly, I worked with Eloise, an 8-year-old mare who was purchased at an auction 6 months earlier. Her prior life history is unknown. Eloise was very gentle though stoic through the treatment. I sensed that she was a little unsure about it, but was putting on a brave face. When I reached her heart center, I felt an immediate sensation that she had closed off her heart because of something that happened in the past. I felt that she was grieving over the loss of a previous owner (which is how she may have ended up at an auction). She was holding in her grief and I felt like she needed to have a good cry. One of the observers commented that he saw her bow her head a little and it appeared that her eyes welled up with tears. I spent a lot of time on the heart area to give her the encouragement to release her grief and to open her heart to her new wonderful owner. I advised the owner that Eloise simply needs to have a good cry and to be on the look out this week for behavior where Eloise is letting her feelings out. I will be curious to know how Eloise does this week because she has been on my mind and in my heart since the session.
Lily
As I was preparing to leave, I noticed a horse named Lily in her stall who was craning her neck to get my attention. I walked over to Lily, patted her on the forehead and told her that I would give her energy on my next visit. Lily immediately shook my hands off of her head, walked backwards into her stall and turned her head away from me. I could sense that she was upset that she was not chosen to participate in the healing. I verbalized to Lily that I was sorry, but then I asked her if she wanted a brief treatment. Lily knew exactly what I was saying because she walked back up to the front and laid her head in my hands. It was so peaceful for both of us.
It is really difficult to put into words the amazing energy I received from these horses. Not only was I able to give them some healing, but they were amazing healing teachers for me. I wish I would have taken notes because this only describes a small portion of how the horses reacted. I plan to go back and take some of my students since us city-dwellers do not have opportunities like this to interact with horses.
If you have had experiences with offering healing energy to horses, please share your story. With all of the neglect occurring across the country with horses being abandoned, and with the contentious issues of horse slaughter, horses need healing energy now more than ever. So if you are attuned as an energy healer and have not worked with horses yet, I highly encourage you to locate horses in your area and offer your services. You will walk away amazed.
