Did you know that when you live your life in harmony with the Universe, you experience better health and overall wellbeing? It’s true … but what exactly does it mean to sync with the Universe? Our physical and emotional bodies are influenced by the changes in the Universe.
Sun energy
When the sun is out, it gives off vibrant and happy energy which is why we tend to have a better mood when the sun is out. When the sun is behind clouds or hidden during the night, this is when we go inward. Sun is the life force energy for our planet and all beings.
During the Summer Solstice in June, when the sun is at its strongest and present the longest, this is when we feel its energy the most. It can recharge our batteries and provide us more energy and life force. This is also true for animals, plants, crystals, and so on. It’s a great time to sit outside and let the sun charge your life force.
The Fall Equinox is about preparing to do less and being more still. It’s about connecting with your heart and inner voice, and listening.
During the Winter Solstice in December, the sun is the furthest away from Earth and at its weakest. It’s a time for hiberation, reflection and going inward. It is a great time for meditation to reflect on what you need to prepare in your mind before it manifests in the Spring.
And the Spring Equinox is a time to plant the seeds of your ideas (obtained during the Winter Solstice time of reflection) and use the increasing energy of the sun to let them grow.

Moon energy
The time before the new moon is a time to reflect on what you want in life. When the new moon occurs, it’s like a blank slate to draft your intentions. The time between the new and full moon (called waxing) is a time to focus on your intentions and become clear about what you want. When the moon is full, that is the time to release and take action on your intentions. It is a great time to launch new projects and ideas. It’s also a time of increased energy which is why some people feel agitated or have trouble sleeping. Some cities see increased crime rates. The time between the full moon and the new moon is called waning and this is when energy is waning, so you rest and reflect. It can also be a time of reflective creation to help you prepare for the next cycle of intentions.
A super moon happens about once a year and is when the moon comes closest to the earth. It looks larger than usual and the light from the moon is quite intense. It can cause an increase in emotional reactions and even sleeplessness from the intensity of the light. The super moon this past weekend was no exception and caused many emotions to run wild!
The moon waxes and wanes every month, like the tides that move in and out, and provides an opportunity for you to reset your intentions, release them, and then rest. When you can prepare your activities in alignment with these natural celestial movements, your life will run smoother. When you work against these natural movements, life can seem difficult.
For example, do not set intentions in the waning days before the new moon. That is a time for reflection on what you want. And you may find it more challenging to deeply meditate during a full moon because of the heightened energy.
Eclipses
Eclipses are a time of increased energy that you can harness for your benefit. A solar eclipse is when the darkness of the new moon is between the brightness of the sun and the Earth. It’s where darkness and light merge together. It is the start of a new cycle in your spiritual development. It’s an indication of change, new beginnings and the manifestation of new things in your physical world. Solar eclipses are a great time to set new intentions. You may feel a build up of pressure, feel that things are moving faster, even have accidents.
A lunar eclipse is when the full moon passes into the Earth’s shadow. A lunar eclipse is the time for beginnings, endings, and major changes, usually involving relationships. Emotions run high, actions taken usually have unexpected results, but you obtain awareness of yourself. The energy can be felt two days before and three days after the eclipse. Like the solar eclipse, you may feel restless, move faster, and have trouble sleeping. A lunar eclipse is a time to “see the light” in our life, to release out dated beliefs, and to walk your truth.
What you can do
To keep myself in sync with the Universal energies, I look ahead in my calendar about 3 months and chart out the new moon and full moon dates, as well as any upcoming eclipses. This helps me to plan my creations, when I launch projects, when I put my crystals outside for a sun or moon bath, when I will be more physically energized, and when I need to rest. It also helps me to understand when I may have trouble sleeping (grab that Selenite and place it under your pillow), when I may have trouble meditating, and when I do not have the energy for physical activities. It prevents me from being hard on myself when I understand that I’m syncing with the Universal energies. And when you can work with these energies rather than against them, life is easier and sweeter.
All my best,
