What’s your word for 2014?

BalanceHas anyone asked you what your word for 2014 is? Do you even know what your word for 2014 is? Do you even know what I’m talking about? 🙂

At the beginning of each year, I have a word that ruminates through my mind. This word is foretelling me what the year will be for me (or what it needs to be). For instance, 2011 was “new beginnings”, 2012 was “learning”, 2013 was “expansion” and 2014 is “balance.” What I have noticed is that my yearly word sometimes corresponds with my numerology chart. For example, 2011 was a one year for me (and one is about new beginnings). And at the end of each year, I reflect back on the word and it is precisely how my year unfolded.

So without thinking, what is the first word that pops into your head when you think about 2014? That word is YOUR word for the year! It’s your inner voice say “hey, this word is what you need to embrace … so let’s get to it!”

For me, balance is definitely my 2014 word because it seemed like all I did was work in 2013. Don’t get me wrong, almost all of the work that I do is amazing and joyful and I love doing it (some of the administrative work is not so much). It was work that needed to get done. I have so many plates spinning in the air at all times between my healing/coaching work, my animal protection work, creating new classes, writing writing and more writing, and then trying to have a little time just for me. My to-do list is endless and I keep adding to it because my creative juices are on Red Bull right now. So I could literally work every minute that I am not sleeping. And some days, that’s what I do. But that’s not good for my energy and eventually I get energetically zapped.

So 2014 is about balance whether I like it or not! So I’m going to take more trips that are just for fun, I’m going to dive back in to my ballroom dancing, and I’m going to spend much more time with people who mean so much to me. All work and no play makes for neglected dance shoes!

On Sunday, I asked my Facebook friends what their word for 2014 was and received these great answers: abundance, adventure, awesome, balanced, blessed, forgiveness, freedom, ground-breaking, happiness, harmony, hope, love, natural, onward, peace, potential, prosperous, self-discovery, success, within.

So if you do not have a word, grab the first word that comes to mind when you ask “what is my word for 2014.” Whatever word comes to mind is your word; it’s the word of what will help you live your best life this year. And then honor that word.
