Which camp do you fall into:
(1) I have never tried any natural healing method;
(2) I tried natural healing after traditional medical methods failed; or
(3) I found natural healing methods before I felt ill or too stressed and it is now a part of my life.
Natural healing means any modality that typically does not include pharmaceuticals, surgery or invasive procedures (such as chemotherapy). It can include acupuncture, affirmations, crystal energy, energy healing, essential oils, exercise, herbal supplements, meditation, yoga, and more to help balance the body/mind/spirit. Natural healing js complimentary and works alongside traditional medicine.
So let’s back to the questions above. If you fall into Camp #3, good for you! When you embrace natural healing, you may prevent a serious ailment and may find that you are more balanced to handle the stress of everyday living. When you take a break from natural healing (due to travel, or over working) that is when you usually notice that you feel worse. That has certainly happened to me. That’s when you know that it is working.
If you fall into Camp #2, do you wish that you had found natural healing before something happened? I meet too many people and pet owners who wish they had found natural healing before it was too late. Too often the ailment has progressed too far to turn the situation around. Natural healing at that point simply provides comfort and relaxation.
What if you fall into Camp #1? What is stopping you from trying a natural method to keep you healthy and well? Here are a few reasons that I have heard over the years:
- Insurance won’t pay for it. Most insurance does not cover natural healing right now, but the more people that are using it, the more likely that could change. When you invest upfront in your health, you spend less on medicine and doctor’s visits in the long run. And when you can replace some or all of your medicine cabinet with natural remedies, you may find that you save money too.
- I want scientific proof that it works. There is a growing body of research supporting natural healing methods. But I often wonder who first decided that we should have proof that something works? Why would we allow a complete stranger to tell us that something works (that’s giving away our free will). Our ancestors did not need federally-funded National Institutes of Health studies over a 10 year period telling us that meditation reduces stress. So take a leap of faith and believe that something without requiring proof (and you will be pleasantly surprised then when it does work).
- How do I know it will work? Well, it won’t work if you do not believe or even try it, right? And with traditional medicine, there is no guarantee that it will work either.
We live in a world filled with toxins, pollution, chemicals, technology, and depleting natural resources. We are surrounded by junk that our bodies were not built to defend against. It’s easy to enter the blame game and point fingers at the government, big industry and others for our failing health. But our health is solely in our own hands. Now instead, imagine that you begin to flood your body and mind with natural remedies: meditation to relax the mind; Reiki to relax the body; essential oils to penetrate the cells, awaken and soothe the senses; acupuncture to release energy blockages; yoga to gently energize the body, and so on. Now how does that feel?
We are all responsible for our own health. Limiting your options or intentionally putting on blinders to something “new” or “different” will only harm you.
Just one more question …. what are you waiting for?
